Is it just me or does Callaghan look awkward? Earl Spalding like awkward?
He doesn’t look to be a smooth mover from that clip.
Horne looks to be the complete footballer. A fearless, hard, skilful competitive beast. Would embody the shinboner spirit.
I wouldn’t be against just taking him with pick 1 without bidding on anyone else. He is miles ahead of the next best player and when you have pick 1, you pick the best available.

I think its just you w03 - what I saw from that clip was a silky tall half back/wing slicing up defensive zones with that left foot.

I doubt we’d trade any of the players worthy of a first round pick, so the best option would be to package our 2nd pick (early second round) with a decent player (eg Polec/ Anderson) or with our FA compo pick for Dumont and/ or Atley to upgrade to late first round. Possible, but unlikely.

Dont think anyone is going to want players like atley, anderson, polec. These three are more useful is staying. They will get phased out eventually if not already so. I think atley is on the outter but we still need him for another year to cover any sudden injuries but otherwise his spot is for bonar. Anderson still plays an important role as a physical prescence in the middle much like swallow. Polec is by far the best of the lot in that when he is in full flow, he is our most damaging mid and we still need at least 1 more year out of him to free up the youngsters.

Both of them will have to match bids for their Father/Sons if they are as good as touted, i just prefer to use pick #1 for us, if Horne is clearly the best, why he should be forever listed behind Daicos and Darcy ?

he's not going to be "forever" listed behind daicos and darcy any more than Chris Judd is "forever" listed behind Luke Hodge and Luke Ball.

Clubs know Collingwood are committed, we will bid.

Im not sure the clubs really give a shit if the player wants to be #1 or not, they will be thinking about how making Collingwood pay top dollar affects their later picks.

It may move them further out of the first few rounds which is essentially improving your own draft hand.

Under no circumstances should we do anything else but use Pick to get the player we want, which should be Horne-Francis. let me make myself further clear by saying I know nothing about this Pick swapping caper, so take the next bit with a substantial grain of salt.

If Adelaide wins next week and Collingwood loses, GWS will have second pick. I wonder if GWS, for salary cap reasons, might approach us with a deal to swap pick 2 plus a player like Hopper or Greene for our First Pick plus our Pick 20 or preferably 38? Fanciful some might say.

You would need to make it look legit but us not bidding on Darcy could save them quite a few points.

Maybe our second for their first and a later Pick that we won’t use to give it the right optics.

Also any interest in Lipinski or Richards might come into the equation if they want to come to us?

I wouldn’t even think it would need to be that much since their first could be 19 and our second 21. Depending where they finish it might not be worth the effort and we might choose to screw them on Darcy?

We are basically getting a FS type (and all the footy+ that comes with that).
