Rumour Pies Linked to Robert Warnock

Warnock has been linked to Greater Western Sydney and Collingwood and his manager Colin Young has stated the former Fremantle player, lured to Carlton on about $400,000 a season, wants an opportunity to play senior AFL.

I found this intresting that we been linked to him along with GWS.

Would love Warnock as I really rate him what I seen of him at Freo and Carlton.

Though I doubt we have the money to get him as we have so many good players out of Contract.

Your Thoughts on this?

It is still along way too End of the Season so Nothing might come of this but Something to keep an eye on

Darren Jolly will still be this clubs number one ruckman next year, so anyone who wants to come to this club will have to play the Cam Wood role for at least one more year.

No way Warnock ends up at our club if he wants to play week in, week out at senior level.

In my recollection, the best finals sides were the ones with dominant gorilla rucks eg Clark Keating (still have nightmares about him), Ottens, Jolly, Cox, Lade. Players who could clear a path for their midfield and beat up on beanpole skinny rucks (Josh, McKee)

Warnock might be pretty to watch during Nab Cups and the home/away season but in the Sept crunch, a strong presence in the ruck is was we need. (Hence why Wood is not the answer)

Robbie Warnock is a massive upgrade in Darren Jolly at this stage of his career. If it meant giving up our first round pick even in this great draft, I would do it. Warnock is 25 and coming into his prime, he is a great tap ruckman who will flourish with gametime. The only reason he cant get a game for Calrton is because Hampson is more flexible and Kreuzer may be more talented. I think right now Warnock is a better number 1 ruckman than both of them. I really hope he gets left out of their side for most of the year and we take a big shot at him. I think there is an excellent chance that this will be Darren Jolly's last year, and unless Cam Wood develops into a solid player, we will need a replacement. Warnock would be a massive upgrade to our team.
Having said all this, for many reasons it just wont happen.

Unfortunately, Paul Williams, Alan Richardson and our favourite son, Gavin Brown, have mingled a magpie aroma into the the Carlscum air, so anything from Carlton probably has a bit of us premixed in its properties.

Laughable.

Warnock is 206cm. Jamar is 198cm. Warnock is 25, Jamar is 29.
I would much prefer a guy who can dominate in the ruck than a guy who is simply just physical.
Before Ottens went to Geelong, did you think he was a physical ruckman? Warnock could develop in a similar way, and I can guarantee that we would have a far greater advantage at stoppages than we have had for the past 20 years if we got Warnock. I think only Naitanui and Cox are clearly better at tapping it directly to their mids. I think Warnock is arguably as good as anyone else.

Spot on. Jolly is past it he can hardly bend down to pick the ball up any more and he is just too slow. Since about round 16 last year Jolly has been terrible he has not played any better than what he did in the GF when he was injured. I hope we dont treat him bad and force him to retire though, it's not the way to treat premiership ruckman.

That's a shocking call.

Jolly has been poor for the best part of a year (and don't get me started on his 2011 GF). We just haven't had anyone who can come in and fulfill his role in the ruck and replace him. If Warnock was on our list right now, I'd be playing him over Jolly that's for sure.

Jolly is already struggling to stay fit for a whole season, and to say he will still be our #1 ruck next year when he is on a fast decline with regards to performance and his body, would be just foolish.

I've been thinking about Warnock the past few weeks. Interesting that he is coming up in rumours now.

Would love for him to come to Collingwood. He would solve our short and long term ruck problems.

We need a new no.1 ruckman and Warnock right now is the highest level under-utilised ruckman going around.

What we need is a stop gap until our kids (Ceglar + Witts) are ready to take over the helm. I cannot see how we can afford Warnock considering we are going to pay more to keep Cloke, Ried and others.

Jolly has looked past it for 12 months now. He is a warrior and will battle through though he does look to be on a downward slope. In saying that Cox looked past it a couple of years ago and came good.

I'm not as concerned with our ruck position than others appear to be. I haven't written off Jolly as yet. He has dropped off but I think if he can get his body right and fit then he will still be more than serviceable. I would also like us to give Witts a shot as a second ruck and forward at some point to give him a taste as well as give us an indication to how far off he is.

If Witts can play a handful of games this year, about half or so in 2013 he may be ready to take the first spot in 2014. He is physically ready now I think he just needs to work on fitness plus get experience in where to run etc.
