Please explain?

North has enough points without their first round pick to get Thomas.
There are some reports Thomas will be in the top 3 for this year's draft. Given their current position North have 2643 draft points with picks 1, 2 & 3 going at 3k, 2517 & 2234. At pick 3 they'll need to use 1787 points. Let's say they trade their first pick worth 1268 points they only have 1375 points left putting them into negative for next year. (Assuming Lynch will only go for 1 first round draft pick!)

This is also assuming they have eyes on just those two. There could be a couple mid tier kids which they feel would make a solid foundation for their club. Using all the draft picks on 2 players would wipe them out in what is considered a super draft.

The main thing with a super draft is kids who would normally be late first rounds instead go for early to mid second rounds. Gives you a better chance to get 3-4 team players.

Super draft at the top not the whole draft.

Talented Key forward are rare to find but the average foot soldier is a surplus. Giving up a lot of average talent for Lynch makes a lot of sense.

Depending on ladder position the Suns may decide not to match and receive compensation one.

Roos may do a separate deal with the Suns. Roos give up pick 10 for pick 24 and
39. Both agree not to bid on each other’s Players.

Suns may end up with picks 3,4,10,17 in a super draft.

Roos get Thomas and Lynch.

I read the op differently.

I assumed it was a good player who is, say, under contract and will have played say 94 games at the end of the year. If they get 6 more their kids are f/s eligible. If it was an older bloke who already had 3 sons or something then maybe the club has said we won't let you go this year?

Or a previous f/s who has a brother coming throughout they want to take?

I think getting potentially the best midfielder in the draft and a player who Kevin Sheehan has described as the best Tasmanian prospect since the inception of the AFL is probably worth giving up a second and third rounder and going into deficit.

He's a 6"4 aborignal midifelder that can go to FF and kick bags and break games open.

We could trade every pick in the draft and still get Thomas by going into deficit.

I actually think the OP might be alluding to Josh Kelly.

You should send this to David King. Calls him self an expert and keeps proposing north use their first pick in the draft on another player because and I quote here, “they have enough other points to use on Thomas”. What a numbat. Doesn’t even know the rules.

GWS have another 11 games to go minus bye and that'll get Kelly to 100 on round 23.
Anymore games missed this season, then this rumour fits.

Where's the bit about Buddy being on his fourth strike???

These rumours have no credibility until they mention buddy being on a 3rd, 4th or 5th strike IMHO.

#fakenews

On two strikes Buddy got a note from the doctor stating he was struggling with drug addiction, which then eliminated him from any recreational drug testing. Expect his mate Hanners did the same.

Has he missed many games with general soreness, illness, death or family issues?
