Re: We're playing Port- what are our chances?

IMHO:

we are a lot better team than the roos..

listening to Pickers on SEN today he said something along the lines that because Geelong had the hard tough game it will have them up for next week, and like Moon's said today its the kick up the bum we wanted going in to a grand final.

in all honesty we will go in favorites in a 50-50 game, we will win by 4-5 goals if its a dry day and we can run, carry and use our skills the way we want ala the first final against the Kangaroos, if its wet and slippery it will favor their medium/small forwards in Motlop and Ebert and bring it back some what.

we beat them by 50 odd at AAMI this year, they just scraped over the line against us at SS with no Ling, Bartel and Selwood. To me they were huge omissions.

Port haven't played in front of more than 50,000 this year, that will be big (even Harley admitted the crowd factor surprised him) because we have playing in front of two almost grand final crowds on the MCG over the past three weeks which they haven't.

And lastly a minor stat, we are undefeated at the G this year.

I hope that eases the stress from some of you..

Re: Should we be worried?

We aren't going to come this far and let it all go to waste.

As Tommy said after the game "We are on a mission."

so much determination within the group atm. can;t w8 to see the boys on the biggest stage of em all. all the way cats

I'd like us to play them the way we did first time around: hit into their small forwards/midfielders at every opportunity, make them fear going near the ball.

As an aside Port are also undefeated at the G (although they've only played 3 games there - Collingwood, Tiges and Melbourne).

exactly, we need to put them under the pump, make the power midfield bomb the ball in high.

Re: We're playing Port- what are our chances?

when we kick it long into our forward line, more often than not mooney will take a grab or there will be our silky crumbers at his feet

We stopped kicking at long at sensible moments last night. Seemed only to do it when we'd paused, thought about options, and then tried to do it.

Re: We're playing Port- what are our chances?

The kangaroos were abysmal.

They did not man up. The did not chase. They turned the ball over continually. They dropped their heads in the 2nd quarter and from that point onwards were sheissenhausen. They made Port Power look good.

Stop Peter Burgoyne, you will run over the top of Port. Its no coincidence mid year when they had a lean spell that Peter Burgoyne went missing over that time. Lingy will now doubt get the job.

I am confident that the Cats will belt the living suitcases out of Port and the game will be a fizzer (for PA fans).
gee isnt that the way they played against you so they made geelong look good or when you win by big margins youplayed well

no they were crap against us in the 1st Semi as well. You can't let a side like PA or Geelong have so much free ball in the midfield or they will both kill you on the score board. North just aren't up to our quality as teams, plain and simple as that. It was a shame West Coast was struggling for injuries because they had the class to compete in the last 4.

Re: Port or Roos? Who do we prefer?

Still no reason to be arrogant, by the end of this season Gaz Jnr will probably have more awards than that (excluding having 4 AA's) and he won't be arrogant.

First up, bowing to the crowd, or putting a telephone to your ears, or even doing a shotgun etc. is NOT arrogant. It's simply a celebration, and people need to get over it. If he did it when his team was 5 goals down, then yeh, that's rather stupid. His team was like 10 goals up, there's nothign wrong with it imo. In cricket, Brett Lee does his little chainsaw, in Soccer, players box the flag or dance around etc.

Why is AFL the only sport that when a player celebrates, he gets shot down?

Alot of players in the AFL are arrogant... Celebrating like that does not make one more arrogant than the other. Fair enough, if he bowed to a Kangaroos player, that would be stupid.

Honestly what is arrogant about celebrating or showboating for the crowd? The game was well and truly won.

at least at the MCG m Williams cant that he's players to the outer to all the ferals to pump them up, it we be off doll week they wont be going

go cats get up you good thing

That's one hell of a post, pity it's not English

anyway..............

Good luck next week guys, let's hope it's a great game.

BTW, Michael Wilson has ruptured his achilles tendon

It looks stupid when it happens in those other sports as well. Celebrations don't have to include over animated performances.

Well in my opinion, it is annoying when it occurs in any sport.

I think he's got the runs on the board ;)

Don't forget he's ugly.:)

I am actually glad we're playing Port Adelaide this week, for several reasons:

- Kangaroos would have been hell bent on revenge on us if they made it. Port Adelaide would be confident they can beat us, considering they beat us in Round 21, so if anything we'll want to revenge that loss.

- When we played the Roos in the Qualifying Final, we only conceded 10 scoring shots. Yesterday the Roos had 21 scoring shots, and poor kicking was the only reason the margin was as bad as it was.

- In Round 21, we had Selwood, Ling and Bartel all out, were killed in the clearances, played poorly most of the day and were a few seconds away from winning. We'll have those three players back in the side on Saturday.

- We would have learnt more from a hard fought 5 point win on the weekend than Port would have from a 87 point shellacking. Plus, the game we played in was more finals like in its intensity than the Port-Roos game.

- We had half our side play below the level they have played this year on Friday night, and still snuck home. I highly doubt we'll have that many passengers next week.

- In Round 21, we had Selwood, Ling and Bartel all out, ........ We'll have those three players back in the side on Saturday.

Plus "The Barbarian" don't forget, with a couple of runs under his belt he'll hopefully be running back into some form come Saturday.

Re: We're playing Port- what are our chances?

Well remember last time, We didnt have Ling, Bartell, Sellwood, but we lose Egan, and i think they will not have Wilson....

Will be close, but Port's thrashing of North doesn't mean a whole lot, North were bloody horrible, after all, WC almost beat Port in the QF. Hopefully all our guys can be fit for the day.

Re: Port or Roos? Who do we prefer?

Sorry you could be right there. I was only half watching. The worst final this year by a street.

Disagree Geelong V Kangas was equally as bad. The Kangas were a disgrace and were wasting a finals spot they were pathetic. In the first quarter I said that this will be a thrashing because our boys were everywhere and it just seemed too easy and if anything the kangas just got worse from that point.

Re: Port or Roos? Who do we prefer?

being based in adelaide and a cats fan, i hope we trounce them. R21 was the best thing that happened to geelong this year.

Re: We're playing Port- what are our chances?

If they kick well at goal, we'll be fine. If we kick poorly we'll lose. Even today if the Kangas had kicked better they would have still been in with a chance with 10 minutes to go in the last quarter.

There's bugger all between the sides, and it's going to be a belter.

North kicked 16 points, Port kicked 13. Always gives me the shits when people talk about how "if" one team kicked straight, and completely ignore the fact the other team also missed many shots. Even if you flip norths score to 16.5, they still get done by 5 or 6 goals. Big deal.

Should be a cracking GF.
