though Im not impressed by the way Port laid down:mad:

They have all done it.........

All I can say is..........my tips are all good so far......

I just have a feeling you will be exposed by a team like Melbourne in the finals. Port look awesome when they're on-song, but they seem to struggle when the opposition takes them head-on, like the 'Roos did (now 9-0 aganst Port.)

Melbourne just kept running tonight, (as Hawthorn did in the final last year) and eventually found enough space to use the ball effectively. Teams that take them on and run with the ball can defeat them. Too many teams, have been too defensive and have been annihilated by the Port machine, including my mob.

I don't think Port would want to meet Melbourne in the finals.

So what if Port decide to take the next step up, when these mobs take their steps up..as Port are that much better to start with..what happens if they decide to take the next step and push down the challenging erchins ?

If you do, then you'll win the flag. We will find out in two months.

Port, to me, seem more vulnerable than Brisbane. They remind me a bit of Geelong 10 years ago. Able to absolutely annihilate teams, but can be exposed by teams that take them on.

Deciding to do something and putting it into practise are 2 totally different things. :)

Yes, Dan.

When Port play against teams that make it a close game, its a close game.

Teams that take the opposition on, often have close wins, because the ones that actually take the opposition and lose badly are the ones deemed not to have taken the opposition on.

Its like another quote I heard on bigfooty.

"When McLeod is on fire, he's unstoppable."

which means...

"When he's not on fire, he's been stopped."

Similarly, when Port are winning well, their opposition are not deemed to be taking Port on, and are accused of going defensive when in reality the ball is taking them into defence.

But no worries Dan, keep using your truisms and common sense.....its obvious that Brisbane losing 4 games was an aberration and that they are clearly unexposed when teams `take them on'

Great win, Port have what it takes to win the close ones it seems. Should have been more but Melbourne played well and kept at it, well done to them.

It is good to see that Port can win even after being devastated by injuries, almost 1/3 of the best 22 out of the side so lets hope we can get a few more of them back soon :)

As usual, its not the number of injuries, but who the injuries are.

No need to get narky.

All teams have vulnerabilities, but I think Port's are more pronounced than Brisbane's.

It was a very similar game to the Brisbane vs Melbourne match, both Brisbane and Port had injured players out (Port more though), Melbourne came back after being down by a fair bit in both games but Port held on to win while Brisbane was overrun.

Draw what conclusions you like from it, but Brisbane vs Port in Rnd 22 is set up to be a classic match.

I think Port will drop one or two of its last three games in all honesty, and I'm most unsure of their R20 game, that will show which South Australian side is coping after such a great year for both sides.

Like I said in the Port v Melbourne thread, it was showing that Port can hold on when tested and even though I thought they were going to get top spot again, I still think they're not far off it.

Their defense got off their backsides and performed and that was fantastic to well, read about (thanks again Porthos).

What games on the way home do you think Port will win and lose?

That's to everybody but Power supporters especially.

After the way we played last night we can only get better.
Showdowns are completely differently games all together. Port have enjoyed winning the past 4 showdowns and hopefully they will make it five in a row!
Port should come close to beating west coast at Subi, as Subi holds no ghosts for port, unlike it does for the crows ;)

Our biggest problem last night was not enough rotation available in the midfield.

Without Schofield, Wanganeen, Kingsley and to a lesser extent Hardwick and Che we didn't have enough options to switch through there.

In the second half Melbourne were winning the ball far to easily out of centre which exposed Wakelin and other in the backlines with the ball coming in so quickly.

Junior Burger was given a given a chance and will be better for it and with the above players returning over the next month things will be fine for the business end of the year.

What has that got to do with it? Did you see our last quarter against the Eagles?

Anyway, I say again congratulations to Port on well-deserved win.
