The AFL is so obsessed with increasing scoring that surely they can't keep the shorter quarters. They need the junk time goals to get the scores up.

During the lock-down Iv been watching full games of AFL on the the "classic AFL matches youtube channel" probably watched 10 or so games from the 2003 to 2009 years. pretty sad use of my time I know but they could keep my attention because it really was a fantastic product.
