wow this cost of living thing is getting to be a joke now isnt it. never seen a premiership team recruit the two highest paid off-season recruits before.

i understand the premise of it costing more to live in sydney but that wouldnt apply to people earning hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. the average home might cost more in sydney but a guy earning $1.4 million a season can buy a heck of a house anywhere in oz , i dont think they are limited by their location in sydney.

the cost of living (9.8% on top of contracts) should only apply to rookies , and maybe the bottom of the list. shouldnt be a way to offer buddy franklin 9.8% more than any other team can offer

Considering that money is the only factor in Buddy's contract, the cost of living DOES matter. In Sydney, he gets less disposable income off the same salary.

That being said, COLA is outside the salary cap anyway, so he's getting the same bonus as everyone else in the team, which is fair.

I feel kinda guilty, but I get the feeling I will be hoping hard for Tippett and Buddy to either lose all form or discover that they can't work together next year. Will look forward to Sydney regretting a deal for the next decade.

After what Tippett did for footy in this state, I hope he gets a flag ASAP.

Tudor has been turned down many times now. Obviously he's no good.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Leigh Tudor.

EDIT: This is still an 'in-joke' on this board, right?

EDIT II: Was this EVER an 'in-joke' on this board?

I don't know but I'm going to go with ummmm Thursday.

I'm right aren't I?

You do realise Gunston left the Crows because he didnt like Adelaide the City (not the Footballl club), he said something along the lines of "it was changing my personality and making me an angry person". Genuinely funny stuff but he didnt hate the club as you guys so desperately hope for.
Players don't walk out on a club they love. And you've had a ridiculous number walk out recently. Culture...?

how?

what would be the difference between my friends grocery bill in sydney and mine?

how much more does he pay for car insurance than i do?

how much more does he pay for fuel?

nones of these things are really any different. you can probably find a bigger difference from one adelaide suburb to another.

parking may cost a bit more but the difference between adelaide parking and sydney parking would equate to 0.0000003% of buddy's weekly salary.

housing may cost more but when you start looking at spending the kind of money buddy will spend it becomes a mute argument.

not to mention that every sydney star has the potential to earn much more money from media and sponsorships than other states to offset any extra costs of living there.

the idea that someone who is earning millions of dollars from sydney football club needs or should get hundreds of thousands of extra dollars on top of that from the afl is idiocy. cola is 9.8% so when they say buddy is on $9mil over 10 years im not sure if that is 9mil from syd then 9.8% from the afl on top of that or more likely i believe when they say $9 mil that $900,000 is from the afl as the cola and $8.9m from sydney. imagine the horror if buddy had to survive on the sydney streets on only 8.9 million dollars.
