Autopsy Pre season V Richmond

Thought Thomas was pretty good last night. harsh on that kick too. Done off one step while under pressure and had to weight it between 2 Richmond players. Unlucky all round for me
It was obviously a bad option having to put it up that high giving him no chance.
But the game was full of taking the wrong option. The amount of times we passed to guys surrounded by the opposition of flat footed wasn’t great. I’ll put it down to early season lack of touch and feel.

You seem to possess too much logic and common sense for these boards.

I know Thomas is well part his best but blaming him for others' injuries now? That's next level internet stupid
You obviously struggle with comprehension. But I’ll say it slowly for you. The....kick....was....not....great....and....didn’t....help....the....situation.

I hope that helps you. Or maybe yet consider audio books.

It was the kick that set up the injury.
It was a shit kick, but as a forward, if he gets injured every time a kick puts him out of position in a marking contest, he's going to continue to not finish any games.

After reading through the game thread and this one, it seems a new virus is sweeping the board: Pendles21
This virus is usually spotted after a loss - any loss no matter how insignificant.
Symptoms: Inability to see the bloody obvious.
Cure: Watching the game more closely - preferably without copious amounts of alcohol.
Honestly people, if you can't appreciate Pendles' contribution last night, go back and have another look.

I know Stevo goes from a superstar to spud as soon as he leaves the club, but he did kick 40 goals in his first year.. Ruscoe is not even best 22...
Ruscoe averaged 1.2 goals a game last season, with shortened quarters and an average of 41 inside 50's. Stephenson averaged 1.5 in 2018 with full length quarters and an average of 54 inside 50's.

Ruscoe averaged 1.2 from a handful of games. Stephenson was consistent enough to average 1.5 over the course of a full season even after going goalless in his first few games. Ruscoe had an ok start to his career, but let’s not pretend he’s even close to the level that Stevo was in year 1..

His body seems less than robust.

My point is that Stephenson achievements aren't some unobtainable goal. Hell, a rookie recruited as a defender kicked more goals than Stephenson in 2018

I'm on the Ruscoe bandwagon. Moves well, looks to have nice skills and has a bit of character and chirpiness about him. But at the moment, he looks a bit like 2020 Stepho. Not like the bloke in the first half of 2019 who looked set for stardom.

fu** you are over dramatic it’s a contact sport these things happen
TI was actually just trying to suggest that you can't blame the kick when a player gets injured in a marking contest.

But how can you not be concerned that a bloke has played about 5 VFL/AFL games for the club and has copped serious injuries in 3 of them. Certainly not pointing to him being physically robust.

That was just a standard marking contest.

Martin, Cotchin & Bolton had more center clearances than our whole team. Extremely disappointing when you consider Martin & Cotchin spent half the game on the bench.
Only Grundy had more than 1 (2).

Pendles is great in traffic with ball in hand, but he is looking slow and struggles to win clearances or put any pressure on the opposition when they break away.

It was just an innocuous knee straight on the collar bone. It’s just simply bad luck it’s stupid to suggest otherwise

If you ever watch Grimes he does it time again, he knows what he is doing, another cheap sniper just behind AFL’s number 1 - COTCHIN!!

Quaynor was outstanding, keep playing like that and he will be AA this year. A big call but he was ultra impressive.
Barely noticed Howe, Madgen was awful and far too error ridden.
Moore seemed a bit off but will improve.
Thought Cox was great, he gives us something and his aggro makes us a better team. I'm a big fan, can't kick over a jam tin but he's dead straight.
Didn't really notice Noble.
Elliott and De Goey were something, they should be changing midfielders and I can see why we stood by Elliott through all of his injuries.
Grundy just went through the motions, I expect a lot more dominance for a million dollar, 7 year contract. A lot more.
Crisp was reliable as always, Maynard as well but had his usual brain fades. Can't fault his endeavour and is black and white through and through.
Sier is a lost cause, he's not going to be the midfielder they want him to be. Should've traded him when he had more value last year.
The Browns, need time in the VFL for the first half of the year. Didn't notice WHE, was he playing? Ruscoe is an opportunist, Thomas is serviceable for a couple of goals per game but defensively is poor. Cameron wasn't bad.
Roughead was okay, Henry will improve and Daicos is going to be top 5 Copeland this year.

There is upside to our performance last night

Nice to play FOOTY after months of watching the club piss around playing GAMES.

Some good signs, it was a practice game after all. If only the defensive strategies could be more quickly switched to attack...look dangerous at times when Jekyll Hyde is applied.

Some complaining abt umpires. Stop it. Pies have had a pretty good free fors rate recently and continued last night. It's pathetic reading this excuse when our future is in our own hands.

Re umpires, I get more frustrated with the commentators who seem to highlight anything we get, and completely miss anything given to the opposition- likes dustys blatant push on Q in the first quarter. I dont think the umps are in anyway bias either way tho

My view of him was he wasn't as good as he has been and thats expected. He will be the 2nd oldest full time mid after Mundy this season and with the longer quarters and less rotations and 22 games 2021 may see a significant downturn in his output. A few signs were there last night but no need to panic

I would think and hope the coaching staff are planning for a slow down from here. At his age we cant expect him to be the main man mid anymore.
