Based on 2018 form and some past history:

Contenders to Go Up
St Bedes Mentone - A Grade is a big step up and down, will be around the mark
Old Scotch - A Grade is a big step up and down, will be around the mark
Uni Blacks - Plenty of depth and a history of picking up talent
Caulfield Grammarians - Top line talent is good and strong Unders coming through, but lack the depth of quality of the other contenders.
Beaumaris - Amazing depth of quality players, just the top line talent not as good as the others (until someone steps up of course).
Fitzroy - Should probably not have gone down a year ago and rightfully rebound up. Will be in the mix.

Contenders to go Down
Old Geelong - Great job to come up, but maybe before they were ready?
Parkdale - Really good club and are probably a step up on the rest in this group.
Old Haileybury - Always seem to find a way, but wondering with their depth if they are running out of lives.
Monash Blues - Will this be a rebound year? If not they'll go down for sure.

It took until Round 3 this season for “the experts” to lock us in for relegation. Even some “experts” calling for a mid season relegation. They ended up looking a little less than “expert”. Ok a lot less than “expert”.
Now this bloke has taken it further and put us in the R zone for 2019 a full 6 months before the season!

It was a great escape Les and would be more than happy to see my "way to early" (but meant to stir some debate) prediction be proven wrong.

Yours is a wonderful club (not every club is) and I look forward to seeing a better performance in 2019.

Whilst it is ridiculously early to make any predictions, neither is rocket science and both are a bit of fun. Les whilst you had an amazing and determined escape and deserved to stay up, you also lucked out with the level of competition for those last couple of spots. Like it or not, a year earlier, you would have dropped. As you know better than most of us, the vagaries of Uni that brought you some big losses this year, could just as easily bring you some big gains next year, and you could be at the pointy end of the list. Likewise, Caulfield, with their youngish list and a year in the grade, would be expected to continue their improvement. Like everything, time will tell

‘Like it or not a year earlier you would have dropped’
Yeah, maybe, but in fact a year earlier we lost in the first semi to St Bernard’s by 10 points.
You take what you get and Monash held their nerve and won enough games.
So on to next year...no idea where we will land! All good fun though having a crack, and I do reckon we need to get a bit more discussion going for 2019 than we had in 2018.
I think a good topic for discussion is which clubs are best at getting back into the rooms after the match. No excuse for not getting into the opposition’s rooms. There were some truly horrible visitors to the Uni Green Room in 2018...

This board is very quiet, time to fire things up.
I’ve been told that quite a few gun Caulfield players are returning to the club, headlined by half a dozen above average Premier players. They will be very strong.

Beauy doing their best to get their star players back from Ormond, but have lost young gun Cusack for $$$ to the Eastern League. Louis Diggins also considering Cheltenham for coin, he plays cricket there.

Parkdale will have great change rooms but little else, will struggle.

St Bedes will invest in local youth and juniors, we have a heap at Sandy Dragons and will look to these boys to carry us back to premiership glory, maybe spend a couple of years in B though to rebuild.

Haileybury to struggle, I hear several of their school scholarship kids are going back to Mentone Grammar Old Boys and St Bedes.

Scotch should be very strong along with Blacks, who will still be shocked that they lost the unlosable prelim. A great club, if you listen to them anyway, who will be licking their lips for a run at Premier.

Fitzroy to suprise and almost play finals, Monash to be putrid, Oggers relegated as well.

Howdy Vince. Agree re Fields. Team to beat.
Re Blacks..unlosable Prelim? How so?
Was goal for goal and close wasn’t it? St Bernard’s streets ahead and then Carey and Blacks even all year and even all Prelim. Am I missing something?

Just who from Beaumaris is at Ormond ? get your facts right Vinnie.

No idea but my friends at Beauy aren’t that happy with Ormond? Just repeating what I’ve heard mate, are your team heading to B anytime soon?

They have serious problems then , must have the wrong club , but i'll tell you one thing a certain former AFL goal sneak didn't get on with the coach.

your inbox full of complaints from the 'sensitive' board monopolisers is the water cooler goss mr o.t.p.

disappointing as i would have nominated him for the p.o.t.y - if there was one that is. close call with the infrequent mr fund.

Not sure there has been the influx of top players that Vince predicted at Caulfield, however Will Edwards has announced he is returning after a number of years in the EFL. Was playing in Div 2 put was polling top 3 in competition B&F!

It’s great to see an old boy return to the fold!

what has been happening at st bedes mr mcmahon? some committee action is the rumour. recruits? changes to the coaching set-up?
Sumner out to the SFL which is disappointing but not surprising. Both Garsides gone, Tyquin and Porter retired, Tahana probably cash locally as a second club.

I’ll leave rumours of committee in fighting and coaching appointment dissatisfaction to someone else.

We have a stack of boys at TAC Cup level in 2018 and 2019 so hopefully they don’t chase cash and will come back, especially once our facilities are upgraded, they will be fabulous.

Harley Balic will be a great in for Parkdale, he’s a very talented lad who played at Mordialloc-Brae as a junior. Word around Brindisi is that Parky will start benefitting from the junior alliance from this year on.

Joel Cusack is a big loss for Beauy, have heard Lewis Diggins will follow him out the door.

Have the Garside boys really gone Vince? The old man is the SBMT president or has he moved on as well? I assume they are playing for Old Mentonians with school mates or are they chasing some $.

Unconfirmed reports the Richards brothers may have hung them up also. Both more than handy in their day and would still do some damage in B grade.

FWIW so its Blacks v Scotch in the 2019 GF?

I wouldn't write the Tigers off yet. Plenty of A Grade experience left. Also I think you'll find Caulfield will be around the mark as well (Stability in the coaching ranks, no significant losses of talent (yet) and some handy lads returning).
