Puma dumps Essendon

Not sure how many of you are interested in this but on BomberBlitz they are saying Puma has dumped Essendon with a couple of posters saying they have it on good authority that Adidas will be sponsoring Essendon next year. Would be interested to know what you all think and if we were to get a new sponsor, would you be happy with Adidas? Or is there someone else you would prefer?

As a design house, Puma is more progressive than Nike or Adidas, with perhaps lesser focus on athletic credentials. It just depends on the marketing departments of both organizations (Puma, EFC) as to whether this is a move in line with where they want to go.

Clearly, Puma sees EFC as no longer necessary to its needs or that EFC have sought too much.

Alittle of topic here, but seen a tv program the other day on Barcelona FC and how there only shirt sponsor is Unicef, who they sponsor by way of a million dollar donation each season.. thought it very noble in todays business driven sports market. Perphaps the Bombers could look at something similar in the future.. Its nice to give alittle too.

The Unicef part only came about in the last year or so i beleive. Before that Barcelona had never had any form of advertising because they don't want to ruin the tradition of the shirt. Unfortunately Essendon is in no position do do anything like this.

I agree that the Bombers could not attempt anything on the scale of Barca's effort. perphaps something smaller and local. It is the symbolism of the gesture that I like.

Puma haven't dumped Essendon per say, I'm led to believe they have made a decision to move out of the AFL space and the contract with Essendon was up and hense not removed.

I don't think we'll see Puma sign on with any other clubs in the near future or renew any existing contracts when they expire.

Adidas will be the new apparel sponsor.

well i got my free essendon jumper today(from the red energy voucher) and it seems like a somewhat poorly designed jumper. its not horrible, its still black with a red sash but the neck of it is weird and it seems a bit disproportional.

seeing as it looks like we're getting adidas jumpers i was thinking that it would be awful if our jumper turned out like adelaides adidas jumpers

im reffering to the cuts of blue going through the hoops. itd look awful with our sash but yeah... i doubt essendon would allow them to do it anyway

Take it from the footwear buyer @ Sportsmart...Adidas is taking you over. It came down to Either the Bombers or the Hawks and no disrepect to you guys but the Hawks are a better club to be involved with onfield ATM and they wanted to keep a team in every state..Swans, Lions, Eagles and just the Hawks.
