I'm told Keane's in trouble. I didn't see what happened ... anyone?
Did Worrell also deliver a high bump at one stage? Gave a free away but I didn't get a proper look.

Houston was down in the middle at one stage too, after Dawson's dribble goal. Seemed like a gut punch but I didn't see it clearly or who was near him.

Was a bit of niggle all night. We played on emotion which was bad for us. Meant high effort idiocy like three players trying to tackle one guy or multiple players flying for the spoil leaving no one at ground level.

How about Keays' shot from 50m?

Didn't quite make the distance. The two ruckmen compete...

Cameron marks uncontested while ROB is busy falling down.
He’s got his contract and performance has dropped almost immediately…career pattern. Gotta question his motivation.

Nah. We were putrid.

However, players exposed to finals pressure and a hunger is built.

If we aren't putrid we are in it.
Things are never as good as they seem nor as bad as they seem.

Besides, It takes 2 or 3 finals campaigns to beat the campaingers. We'll be fine over the next couple of years. Build the hunger. Bounce back.
Not sure Nicks can go another gear

I agree in principle, but Curtin is physically cooked at the moment and Taylor looked absolutely nowhere near it, couldn't straight-line anything, massively exposed tonight.

I thought Taylor was one of only 5 or so players that showed composure with the ball in hand tonight

Curtin looked absolutely spent by the second quarter. He could barely get out of a gallop. The kid is tired.
We couldn't rest him in the second half of the season because of our belief in the Continuity Gods

Cant believe ppl upset Laird went to the middle, only player looked like winning a clearance....smart coach does this at start of game not after watching 4 games of us getting smashed in the middle, what has Nicks been watching, enough of this guy ....spurt Milera jr Pedlar thru there. . .do something.

Been following the club for 37 years, **** me for not throwing the toys out the pram and melting off into a corner....

Being a long term loser isn't the flex you think it is.

There was no reason to be as arrogant as you've been this year. Humble yourself.

A systematic destruction by a very good football side.

Outworked, outsmarted, out-skilled. They were simply better in every single facet. And like a good football side, they learned from their loss. Keane and Worrell chopped everything off last time? No more bombing. Hit up leads. They picked us to shreds.

Tonight was like watching the Crows of 2024. We were worse all night but limited the damage, yet completely lost the game in a 5 minute patch after half time.

We never have an answer for Jamie Elliott. We never have anyone within 15m of Sidebottom who needs 15cm of space to hurt you. We never have anyone in the same postcode as Nick Daicos at stoppages. We kick it to their spare man all ****ing night without even looking whilst our spare man is as ineffective as a screen door on a submarine.

I love Tex, but he completely sapped our momentum twice. Once by missing directly in front, once by trying to go around the corner from 50m out when he's the best drop punt in the comp. And it's a sign of the times that when he marked his directly in front that we desperately needed, I immediately turned to my mate who said at the same time as me "He won't kick this."

Thilthorpe trying a cute bullshit handpass instead of throwing it on the boot to bring us within 2 goals was infuriating and the moment the last bastion of hope was gone.

If Fogarty is being blanketed he might as well drive home. Offered nothing and has no way to get himself into the game.

We got annihilated on every single line. Maybe Thilthorpe won his position? Worrell got good numbers but was given a bath on the lead.

Watching from the nosebleeds their spread and burst out of stoppages left us for dead every time. If they got a clean possession, it was lights out. They were off to the races before we even knew what was happening. It's incredible that the final margin was only 4 goals because we never looked a chance.

So disappointing. Back to business as usual.

His 3rd quarter was good. A couple of really nice constructive moments

Strange that we haven't given him a look in the middle. He's good in traffic and even a gun like Dawson isn't a natural, instinctive stoppage mid. It's an area we lack.

Brisbane 2019 - first finals series in a decade. Home Qualifying Final against Richmond (flag winners from two years prior, and written off earlier that season due to form lapses). Brisbane got absolutely smashed. Went out in straight sets. They lost 3 Prelims after that, before getting to a Grand Final, losing it, then winning a flag. That flag was a ten year project and took 6+ years of finals. They're contending again this year too, obviously.

This is why we need to be Top 4 contenders, for multiple years. Random lightning-in-a-bottle flags very rarely happen.

We need a better midfield to do this.

Want to add one more thing.

That's the dumbest footy we've played for a long time. Hack kicks. Bombing long. Dumb handballs. All up nobody down. All run at the player with the ball leaving players free to receive a handball...Too many things to mention.

We shat the bed.

The year is 2017; Adelaide are playing a plan/style that makes the most of our solid defence and excellent forward line that looks great in the regular season, but in September against the better sides the pedestrian midfield is exposed, because they can't change the game when it matters.

Exactly. The exact opposite of how I thought this team had evolved.
The problem is, we now know something about some of our guys we didn't before.

Thilthorpe, Fog, Soligo, Dawson, Peatling etc et cetc

None stands up to finals pressure.

If this is the result of the rebuild, we're ****ed.
