That's because Collingwood had two players sitting about 30 metres behind the contest for most of the game.

Moore pretty much ran around for most of the game with no one near him, the coaching panel essentially did nothing about it and just left Moore free to intercept any long kick forward.

Absolute dunce level coaching performance tonight.
Exactly

I had perfect view of it, it was infuriating.

Surprised they didn’t put Pedlar on him. (That’s a joke no one quote me)

We’d have been better off playing Butts and having Murray forward on him.

If only Nicks was at the ground to do literally anything about Darcy Moore. Shame he decided not to show up
Its not like he didnt have Tom Stewart as a role model to work it out

I think if your hold on the game is that fragile that one error can flip things around, then you never really held it.

There's always going to be something. Moore gifted a goal to his opposite number for instance and it didn't break them.
Absolutely. It showed how vulnerable we still are.

Glad to see nobody here blaming umpires. Unfortunately they weren't to blame.
2 (maybe 3) bad calls all game.

That's not influencing a result.

Probably the best game I've seem umpired since about Rd 3.

Going back to Laird and Keays in the midfield when it all went wrong is a really worrying sign.

Not because the Laird aspect didn't work (he was good), but because it's a clear sign of Nicks panicking and going back to his old (and bad, unsuccessful, game losing) ways

Good Nicks, winner Nicks, tries Curtin, Taylor, Pedlar in there for a spark. Not Keays, who was getting destroyed all night.

We are still a good ruck, and an elite midfielder away from contending.

The gaps showed tonight!

I think we all knew it, we were just enjoying the ride. That ride tonight went THUD!

ROB beat Cameron tonight IMO. Not sure he can be blamed.

Also, I keep seeing this point about needing an elite ruck.

Top end rucks do not win flags, almost overwhelmingly so.

In the last 20 years, Gawn is pretty much the only top tier ruck that has a premiership medal.

The teams that are happy to allow players like Moore or Stewart sit back are smart with how the use the footy. They don't blaze. They spread, chip to players running out into space from stoppages, use it laterally, use it short..

Blinkered, moron bomb it in teams (like we've reverted to being) have to keep even numbers ahead of the footy

If we face Hawthorn next week we are cooked
Nah. We were putrid.

However, players exposed to finals pressure and a hunger is built.

If we aren't putrid we are in it.
Things are never as good as they seem nor as bad as they seem.

Besides, It takes 2 or 3 finals campaigns to beat the campaingers. We'll be fine over the next couple of years. Build the hunger. Bounce back.

The Laird move was a good one.

The problem was that chucking Rankine in would have been the obvious lever to pull.

Rachele in and around the ball would have also added a touch of skill and composure to complement some of the contest work.

I liked Taylor where he was. He was crucial in moments across half forward.

Not putting Curtin in was a big error.

I agree in principle, but Curtin is physically cooked at the moment and Taylor looked absolutely nowhere near it, couldn't straight-line anything, massively exposed tonight.

And Collingwood were good at spotting up players like that.

We looked up, saw Moore and went yeah **** it, he’ll do.
