Perhaps so. But it's not a selection for this weekend. Think bigger.

But equally in regard to snowflakes and Hades etc, we know we have seriously underperforming players currently, who Ryan has been recruited to replace at some point. Of course this is a daunting game for us but given where we are at this moment, that tipping point has arrived.
Besides, running around chasing Chad Warner will teach him a great deal he will never learn in the SANFL.

I want aggressive coaching, not a perpetual returning to the players we already know are not our solution. I'd be totally happy for the Crows to treat the last ten games with the same approach as preseason games. Explore bravely seeking new options, experiment wildly without the fear of losing, extend players capabilities and explode the current paradigm. This last one is the final examination of Nicks.

He's probably a great bloke, but that's not the priority just now.

Oscar Ryan in Jones out. Ready or not, it sets a standard which we (Nicks) have revealed as our greatest shortcoming. There's a time for drastic action and that time is now.
One things for sure and certain a 24 year old Chayce Jones offers a fair bit more going forward than a 32 year old Brodie Smith, if anyone goes out with that reasoning it should be Brodie Smith. And Oscar Ryan ain't going to be chasing Chad Warner around even if he did come in. The obvious in is Zac Taylor for Laird if he doesn't come up...midfielder for a midfielder.

Don’t lose hope guys, Nicks may get saved from his own stupidity

When did we start doing smart things like training at night at the ground we're playing on? And did we still slip over every 5 seconds?

Nah. Let's move Jones to defense for starters. No point destroying a kid's confidence when he's miles off being ready.

Nw - Zac Taylor? This I can get behind.

Taylor should be in for Schoenberg regardless. We've seen enough of Harry to know he is a bust.

Incredibly disappointing to not hear any news about a Zac Taylor or Toby Murray debut as yet. I also cannot fathom the reasoning for playing an SANFL grade forward (Burgess) and a key defender who, despite actually a solid enough game, clearly has no future in our forward line?

It's decisions like these that have held back the club for YEARS. Yes - Borlase might be able to provide a better game than T Murray this week - but what is the point? So we can turn a 60 point thumping into a 50 point thumping after he contributes a goal and 4 hit outs, rather than expose a player who ACTUALLY plays key forward/ruck? This has consistently held back our development, until we start playing them - and either they show they should have been in earlier (see, Nankervis) or show that, while they work hard, they don't have the talent (Mchenry, Murphy) - but it doesn't seem to matter at that point as they just become the ones yo-yoing in without demonstrating any appreciable SANFL form because now they are 'experienced'.

Why do we have a 21 year year old on our list that we have contracted through to 2025 that we refuse to play? So the fisherman Mchenry can rack up some pressure acts and maintain width? Why not just recruit the most willing marathon runner to just jog up and down all day?

Taylor is even playing the half-forward role in the SANFL as I understand it - so it's not like a Dowling who, whilst glad he eventually debuted, is forced into a different role than he usually plays?

What is the point? I honestly cannot understand how the selection meetings work. Maybe the club would benefit from giving some more insight into this - because it appears on face value to be run by a group of yes-men who are thinking about their jobs and how they can best keep themselves at the club - rather than actual forward thinking.

I'm well aware there's more that goes into this than we as fans/supporters recognise - but honestly it just seems they are massively over complicating it.

Looking forward to Dowling being named sub, backing in the boys to respond, and Laird to be rolled out on one leg.

Taylor should be in for Schoenberg regardless. We've seen enough of Harry to know he is a bust.
Maybe, I'm cutting Schoenberg a bit of slack returning from a pretty serious injury understandable he's taking a while to find his best form, might help if he gets more time in his natural midfield position too.

He wasn't any good in the two years leading up to the injury though.

Hearing Tex may not be fit and Laird to HB if he gets up.

As another poster suggested Smith and Burgess out.

Do you reckon Nicks reads the bigfooty selection threads, and after six weeks of us calling for a particular change, eventually does it?

Cos... it really seems like there is a fairly big lag on a lot of these things, but eventually they happen.

Brodie Smith officially dropped

Went to school with a kid who was left handed but played all sport right handed. My brain couldn't comprehend it. Kicked, bowled and batted right handed.
I was the opposite, Kick and throw left handed but write and bat right handed.

Could never work out which hand to hold the tennis racket in :P

Maybe that's why he's been so aggro about being dropped? Worried he won't hit it and then it's likely career over.
Good

He's played like shit and doesn't deserve a contract extension.

So Smith out - should automatically mean Curtin is in in my book

Some would say.....

It's Curtins for Smith

So surely Smith, Burgess, Laird (inj) are three of the outs, who’s the 4th?

Ned? Schoenberg? We know it’s not Dowling
