You haven't had a six day break and have to leave Melbourne, this year so far.

Look the fixture is the way it is, but Freo aren't the team you should be crying to about your 6 day breaks.

actually weve had one 6 day break and one 5 day break

please do tell me more though

If I am not mistaken you have left Melbourne once in 6 rounds to go to Adelaide. This will be our 3rd interstate trip (Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne). Add to that our home ground is the hardest surface in the comp ATM. It more than makes up for the 3 days extra break over the last 2 games we got.

You are just here to do emotional insurance posting. It is totally unnecessary. In the unlikely event you lose, it will be because we played better, end of story.

T
can guarantee you it wont be a blowout

from all reports our boys are very sore and this game could well be a massive danger game for us, not only are you a good side but we will be playing our 3rd game in 13 days and considering our game plan is based around pressure i can see our fatigue being a major issue

you guys should have some confidence of a W imo
While I would love nothing more than a win, a line from Star Wars comes to mind "I think you overestimate their chances". Having said that, that was just before Luke blew up the Death Star...

Do you guys have a real tough 2nd half of the year? Only playing one top 8 team from the previous year in the first 8 rounds as the premier seems amazing.

Nyhuis - Hamling - Duman
Wilson - A Pearce - Ryan
Langdon - Blakely - S Hill
Cerra - McCarthy - Matera
Ballas - Cox - Mundy

Sandi - Fyfe - Neale

Tucker - Brayshaw - Crowden - Banfield

In: Nyhuis - Cox
Out: Johno - Walters

Push Blakely and S Hill into the midfield allowing Mundy and Fyfe more time in the fwd line. Nyhuis comes into the backline and Cox takes the fwd ruck role.

yes, extremely hard second half with the hardest block being from rnd 12 to rnd 17

Port (A)
Geelong
Swans (Etihad)
Crows
GWS (Spotless)

in saying that, i dont buy into the "your first 8 rounds are so easy" argument considering how much can change over an off season

teams with double ups against us when the fixtures came out for 2017 would have been penciling in 2 wins, means nothing until the season is underway

If you're not buying into "your first 8 rounds are so easy" you can't simultaneously say that you have "extremely hard second half"

You got a really good draw to open the season........enjoy it

yes i did, but playing 3 games in 13 days is a whole different story

dont forget our game against the dees on anzac eve was about as bruising as they come

I would agree that the cumulative affect of those games played so close together would hit in the 3rd week but its versus a travelling team that played a derby on a 30C day with one player short in the rotations for most of the match and there's no B Hill or Walters. Those were the two that cut Richmond up last year at the MCG.

Won't be popular changes, but....

In: Kersten, Sheridan
Out: Walters (inj), Johnson

Think we need Sheridan as Richmond players run so much that we need runners and unfortunately Sheridan is the only one that can cover the kms. Would be tempted to bring in Giro but think he needs a couple more weeks at Peel to build some match fitness.

Kersten also can run and cover distance so prepared to give him another go. Cox just doesn't have the fitness base right now to impact and there is probably less need for height this week given how big the MCG is and how much space there is.

Sheridan doesn't really get the possessions or provide much defensive effort. Where's he running?

There is a lot more to defense than pressure acts. I would think Sheridan would be one of the better 2 way runners in the team. If we don't cover the ground well we will get thumped. Happy to be proven wrong but I see him getting named this week. He's definitely not in our future plans and he's poor offensively but I can't see any better option than him this week.

Sorry to be a pain, SC question.

Duman looking like he’ll cement the 3rd tall def role? Will he stay in for quite a while?

Cheers

Impressive!

He needs a solid 30 games under his belt and then he'll start to become a weapon. He's a bit of a liability around the ball, but his defensive efforts are sublime. Very surprised by his genuine burst of speed. I'm not a massive fan right now because of his brainless moments, but potentially has the greatest upside to him from this year's draft.
Brainless moments???????
You name 5 and we'll compare with the rest of the team. His in close hands around the ball have been as good as any!

I gave him a good wrap buddy.

No need to defend him.

He’s been caught HTB a few times. Some of them brainless. Even his first goal was semi brainless.

Nate Fyfe has been caught holding the ball more times, and some of them you could call brainless.
There's no defending him, but you seem to be singling him out.
The young lads just need to play, win lose or draw. There's no flag this year, but in 2 years time we might be top 4.

Singling him out? What by saying he could potentially have the greatest upside from our selections?

Chill out bro.

Actually, there is, might not make you a star, but footy isn't just possessions.
Depends who you are. Some people wanted Ballantyne Dropped after the Derby loss. Yeah he kicked 2 2nd half goals. But only had 6 disposals.

Funny thing is he can kick exactly 2 goals a game or 30 goals from the next 15 games and he would be very likely to be freos leading goal kicker this season even if he averages 8-10 disposals a game.
