Thoughts on giving S.Hill a go up forward as a small medium, Bennell type. Has all the skill and athletic ability to be great up there in the absence of Walters. Also if Hughes comes in it could allow Wilson to be freed up down back so we wouldn't lose too much skill wise down back.

Both ideas have merit but I can't see 2 fit players being removed from the backline which has been pretty solid this season.

I do. We match up reasonably well and the MCG suits us. In the second half of the derby we stopped kicking it straight to McGovern so if we can do the same this week and keep the ball out of Rance's hands we're a sneaky chance.
Not sure if we can cope with their pressure, tbh. Especially the younger guys.

I think our only hope is that this is their 3rd game in 13 days and they might not be able to go hard for all four quarters. I think they would be looking to put us away early with that in mind. If we are in it late in the 3rd I give us a chance.

Does anyone actually think we're a chance?

We are talking about Freo, "lose the games they should win, win the games they should lose".

My grey matter says Richmond by 40 points, but you never never know if you don't give it a go.

Mundy is tuned for action.

Very interesting reading this thread - ins and outs often transcends into a whole lot of other viewpoints.

From my vantage point - Banfield was hurt not just generally sore .....there was 2 occasions when he simply did not run and we did not see this at all previously. It might have been because Shuey just blew him up, I think he is/was carrying a lower leg issue.

Also nothing makes you look slower than being 2nd to the pill ....I'm not so concerned about pace than the lesson we got in clearances.

A few other random factors .....we didn't just kick it to McGovern, he is the master of being 1 50m punt away down the line. Again if we had competed at a higher level in the stoppages I think we would of been more effective in the spread and delivery could then have been a little more precise.

Like many others I understand why MJ was getting games, however our backline doesn't look shaky .....bring in a Cox and Hughes for me. If Bailey is hurt - I'd go back to Tommy ...at least he brings run.

Other than that - hopefully some at Peel can start knocking on that door.

Yep Hughes or maybe Cox could do a better job ATM than MJ and it is looking forwards if we do. Plus with Logue coming back later on seems reasonable to give Hughes a go now - did very little wrong in games last year and is AFL ready.

Nyhuis showed some class and smarts as a forward for Peel. Can also rotate back if we need to (for example) push Blakely on the ball.

I had posted the same potential changes. You have highlight some of the flexibility that making those changes brings to the side. Would love to bring in a ruck/forward but want them to be in good form and against an opponent they will compete well against, especially forward.

Crazy John's Special Idea of The Week; Hughes as second ruck.

Out: Walters and MJ
In: Nuhuis and Hughes

Duman should keep playing. Sandi can come out next week for His Apeness or Meeks. When is Mr Darcy expected to be back? Nuhuis to play defensive forward on Rance and shows Ballas and Matera how to kick bags of goals.

I don’t think Nyhuis’s ability to switch should be undersold. He’ll be durable in defence and enigmatic in forward.

I really like the idea of Nuhuis on Rance, he did a job in Tarrant last year.

Kersten is not a tall option. We need someone who can clunk marks. Apeness or Cox is your man. McCarthy is best as third man and playing up the field. One of our best field kicks. Sandi needs to be tested and TBH I am really over his inability to hold marks. The bloke is 7 foot tall is just about the worst contested mark in the league.[/QUOTE]

I raise you Mr Notacluey for the defence.

Really interesting four weeks coming up.

We should definitely beat Saints and North at home and definitely lose to Tigers and Swans.

I’d take 5-5 for sure, as long as we can get Sonson and potentially a couple of others back by then we might really be able to challenge Pies away and Adelaide at home.

I am surprised that any Fremantle supporter would want Banfield dropped for the week against Richmond. Can some one please explain why. He is by far the best performer of the new chums so far.

Saints will drag us down to a scrap with there pressure which is still pretty good. Just hope we can kick a decent score without Tabs, Walters. Feel like our backline will more than account for their fwd line.

Walters, Bennell, Hill, Tabs?, Logue?, Apeness, adds a fair bit of class and structure to our current side. Really need to make sure we beat the Saints and I think you've undersold North. They've been quite impressive this year, though they may be a tad one dimensional going forward so hopefully Pearce beats Brown which would go a long way to a win.

There is no 'definitely' with the players that we have out (Walters, B.Hill, Taberner) and the ones that will most likely get rested as well.

That might tie into Schuey corking him in the first quarter. He was fined by the MRP. ****in Sam Mitchell as coach. No surprise the Eagles have resorted to corking.

Banfield is a tough Ninja. If he wants to be the love child of Barlow and Crowls - he needs to back up next week and show that Richmond thug his shaolin skills. Go Banfield!!
