I think there is a case to bring Kersten in, we are lacking tall options up forward. I'd consider bringing in Strnadica for Johnson and Kirsten for Walters.
Kersten is not a tall option. We need someone who can clunk marks. Apeness or Cox is your man. McCarthy is best as third man and playing up the field. One of our best field kicks. Sandi needs to be tested and TBH I am really over his inability to hold marks. The bloke is 7 foot tall is just about the worst contested mark in the league.

Can we change the part where the home team always loses when we play each other?

We can make it the home team always wins instead! Or at least trial it for this year and if it doesn't work change it back next year......

;)

:p

:D

Doesn't Richmond have alot small forwards?

Have we got enough to cover on last weeks match v WC?

Hughes to come in if we don't have enough small/medium backs

Does Richmond have a tall backline?
Apeness i like because he is aggressive at the contest

Our backline is currently:

Rance (194cms)
Astbury (195cms)
Grimes (193cms)
Broad (192cms)
Vlastuin (188cms)
Houli (180cms)
Short (178cms)

Grimes usually plays on the oppo's best small and broad takes either talls or smalls

Astbury on the oppos biggest forward, Short and Houli provide the run off half back

Rance plays on opps second forward so he can come off and help the others

Think theyll get confused trying to defend a forward line with 0 forwards? Think we've got you guys on toast here.
Biggest forward = McCarthy (small forward)
Best small forward = Matera (plays very high and not been a huge goal kicker)

Yep, we've got you sorted.

We play 3 dedicated forwards. McCarthy, Ballantyne and Matera. You should play 4 short.

I think we lack pace with our mids. Fyfe,Neale,Mundy , Brayshaw are not quick. S Hill has the pace, can play inside or out and has A class disposal. S Hill to midfield. Connor could do the mid role as well but his work and run in defence has been first class. Hughes and Nyhuis in . Johnson and Sonny out. Nyhuis plays well on the small forwards and can pinch hit forward.
It would take some big arse balls by the match committee but Bennell in to play 60% game time in the forward pocket to replace Sonny . Wont happen but one can dream.
Disagree that Fyfe and Brayshaw aren't quick. Fyfe had the fifth or sixth (from memory) fastest maximum speed of any freo player when the afl.com.au listed the fastest players on each team last year in terms of maximum speed. Brayshaw definitely far from slow as well. I watched him from 20 metres or so away in the Essendon game run down Z.Merrett from behind and he is considered exceptional quick. If anyone could be added to add pace to the inside mid group it might be Banfiled, who I know had a shocker against west coast but in one play early in the game Shuey had 5 our so metres on him and Banfield made up ground to tackle Shuey who is considered a very quick player. I prefer S.Hill in an outside role off either half back or wing only because I think it slightly decreases the chances of him getting a collision injury with his slight frame.

Totally agree that Nyhuis and Hughes should be the ins. Hughes is a good match up for someone like Josh Caddy who plays taller than his height. I think one of Alex Pearce or Hamling has to play a defensive forward role on Rance who will have a field day if he is allowed to match up on Cox, Apeness or Kersten if one of those three were brought into the team. In my view one of Alex or Joel should play on Riewolt and the other should make Rance accountable in the forward line.

Hill is not undersized any more. Cant agree with you on our mids speed. We are a slow midfield Imo.

God some of the journalists in the media don’t have a bloody clue about footy, it’s seriously mind boggling how they survive. The article quoted below:
“IT’S A BIG WEEK FOR…
Michael Johnson. The defender backed up Sandilands against West Coast with the veteran ruckman nearing the need for a spell but unable to be rested just yet with the Dockers' young tall brigade ripped apart by injuries. With Nankervis so influential against Collingwood last week, Johnson might need to up the level of his supporting role on Sunday.”

Hi folks, will Duman stay in the team and play regular games? Is he best 22?

If it's for Fantasy teams? NO. he was lucky to get 2 games and will 100% never play AFL again.

If it's for genuine interest and love of following young kids from opposition teams? Yes. Kid is a gun and due to breakout in performance.

Johnson might displace him if we find a suitable backup ruckman. Spurr/Logue might replace him when they're back from injury. Hughes/Nyhuis may replace him if his form drops. He is not locked in by any means but he has played well so far and fits our new preference for skills out of the back half. I personally hope he stays ahead of all the other possible options except perhaps Logue.

Interesting comment.

Speed can be a touch subjective.

Fyfe is a burst out of stoppage player.
Mundy more of a Matrix mover in that stuff just seems to slowdown around him.
Brayshaw has those little twitches and turns like Blakely.
Both Hill's have agility and genuine speed.

I definitely wouldn't say we're slow. You can look slow if you're not in sync with one another.

Shuey is considered quick but he is always on the move... generally forwards, but Sheed looked quick on Sunday as he was also on the move and Sheed is slower than Michael Johnson wearing skates going uphill.

Fyfe actually looked off it on Sunday, but watch it again and he's not moving in the stoppages. That meant he and our midfield group were being reactive and that generally happens when you lose confidence in your rucks.

Well isn't this some wholesome bantz, I guess we do need the pallet cleanser after derby week. If you could ask richmond to keep it below 100 points this time that would be swell.

No drama. Definitely strongly disagree and there has actually been stats out on the speed of teams so far in 2018 recently. We had the highest average top speed of any team in the afl and we also maintained top speed for longer periods than any other team as well. Speed is the last of our problems at the moment. Brayshaw definitely quickish. It was mentioned in plenty of the draft write-ups. Fyfe explosiveness of the mark is back to its best and he is miles from being slow, particularly over 15-20 metres.

Nah WC mids ran rings around us . Neale and Mundy are a long way of having quick leg speed.
PS I was right about Kersten.;)

Yep, Fyfe used brute strength not speed. Neale and Mundy are not quick . Whats wrong with adding the speed of S Hill to the mix. Hill has been tried at half back over the past seasons and has always returned to wing or midfield.

Well generally you want your bulls to do the grunt work and then feed to the outside where you'll generally see your speedsters.

I'd argue just about every club is the same.

I'll still maintain you can look quicker if on the move. I'll also maintain you'll generally only be on the move when confident of winning ruck taps.

One play Fremantle do fantastically is Sandi 2 hand punch far to the boundary side where Fyfe or Neale hit the ball at full pace. Looks awesome when they do it and Neale and Fyfe look quick.

Again it's the same with Shuey when he just sprints and Natanui delivers it on a platter.

Putting Hill in the middle doesn't solve much for actual clearances IMO.

They didn't run ring around us, but they spread in waves. Our players didn't react quick enough to the spread. WC spread was well coordinated and definitely well practiced, we failed to counter it.

Their mids were already on the move, NN, Lycett, wore down Sandi and Johnson way out of his depth as a pinch hitter.
Next time Darcy, Ape, will run into them physically, Sandi just holds his ground, letting NN cheat with his hand on the
Shoulder.
