Walker -> Is Fog ready? If not they'll prob go back to the Moose, I guess.
Butts -> Murray
Dawson -> IDK? Taylor? Pedlar (had a good first half then was nonexistent)?
Dawson in - Cumming out. Daws can try and help Milera get our ball movement going better.

In - Fog, N Murray, Draper, Nankervis
Outs - Tex, Butts, ANB - all injured, Bond

Ps. Should get Edwards back in by managing someone like Peatling or Taylor.

Does Dawson want to come back or take more time off?
I like the Edwards idea.

Out: Tex, Butts, Bond
In: Fog, NMurray, Dawson

Time to use Taylor for squirts in the middle.

I would hate to see him dropped because he plays graveyard role.
Not yet.
We've got to get the first rotation or two firing before we have the luxury of trying new things. Curtin and Soligo need games to establish some form. Izak has been average and is still needing to improve as a mid, particularly defensively. Berry is improving throughout this year. Let's ride that and see where he develops to. Edwards deserves to continue to get AFL games throughout the year. Rach needs mid time before we park him up forward too often.

Taylor is doing enough to hold his spot for now. I just don't think he's in the club's (Nicks) plan to be a midfielder this year. Maybe later?

I'm traditionally experimental by nature but I'm not silly enough to not have a plan. But if it fails, I'm happy to try alternative options. Taylor needs injuries to realistically be a serious consideration in the midfield for now.

The only way we rest players is if they seriously need it - no chance that Nicks doesn't take the opportunity have a big win. Needs the percentage and will see it as a confidence builder for the team.

I reckon Dawson will be back this week.

The funeral was Wednesday. What do a lot of guys do after a funeral? Group of mates/family and get stuck into the cans.

Hard to play an AFL game two days after that.

No doubt the club gave him the leave pass to see his brother off properly.

Bereavement leave and duty of care as an employer.

Yep. He spent most of the match fumbling and turning it over.

Couldn't care less about the medal

Happy to revisit this when we next play a quality side, against Hawthorn in a few weeks
I disagree. When I rewatched the match there were times he fumbled but it definitely wasn’t most of the game. He’s taking on the tackler more and he’s going to get caught from time to time, but he’s definitely improved enormously. He’s also only 24 so unlikely to have hit his ceiling yet.

I'm late on this, 8 pages behind, but:
Yep. [Berry] spent most of the match fumbling and turning it over.
Most of the match? :rolleyes::thumbsdown:
That's nonsensical hyperbole. Cmon, Scorpus, fess up --- you're just stirring the pot, yeah? :confusedv1: :sneaky:

Berry: 29 disposals, 19 tackles, four clearances and 704 metres gained.
Those numbers speak for themselves as retention-worthy to any reasonable footy observer, but you.

Berry had much more positive impact than negative. On tackles alone, he stopped PA progressing with the ball 19 times (13 more than any other Crow).
Couldn't care less about the medal
Oddly enough, I agree with this. It's about positive game impact for the team, of which Berry had plenty, not 'Medal' votes.

While every Showdown Medal voter included Berry in their votes (notably, Kornes had Wines as his third choice, overlooking Aliir altogether), I thought either Milera or Aliir would have won the Medal
BUT
drop Berry? :confusedv1: 😬

Ridiculous, unless you want the next Selection night melts in here to look like this:
1777764153224.webp 1777762770573.webp

But he’s right? 9 turnovers, even more fumbles. I wouldn’t have gone as far as to suggest dropping him but sometimes he’s an active hindrance to how we are playing.
9 turnovers out of 29 possessions = a good/bad ratio of 20:9.
I'll take it. Any Coach would.

In every game, every player makes mistakes/fumbles/turnovers which are "an active hindrance".
"Active" maybe, but not deliberate.

Also not necessarily a skill error.
More often than not, Berry fumbled under pressure in tight. Everybody does.
Likewise, turnovers can be caused by opponent pressure which are very different from being in the clear and kicking/handballing directly to an opponent (eg many more Crows than Berry played KICK IT TO ALIIR).

An error-free game is impossible, even for the likes of Naicos, the Bont, Neal etc. <== and I am not saying Berry is in their class.
If fumbles/turnovers were the only criteria for retention, the whole team would be dropped.

out tex, butts, mc andrew (needs a rest), bond
in fog/maley, n murray , rob, dawson

and hopefully ah chee getting close to replacing taylor, if bond out move cumming back to hbf with cook and curtin on wing for coming weeks

cumming in the last few mins is often deep in defence spoiling high incoming ball- he times his leaps well. its an important attribute. clearly been disappointing overall but this is something i hadnt realised until watching the replay

Filthy needs a rocket up him.
I agree.
He was filthy about Aliir's interceptions and influence, but what I really didn't like was his frustrated body language when he was outbodied or moved under marking contests or resentment when the ball wasn't delivered to him perfectly, lace out.
One on one, he's very good (he is a man-mountain), but rarely takes a congested pack mark.
That's a combo of poor timing/positioning by him, and good defence.
Emo bugger.
:confusedv1:
That's not an explanation, but an unnecessarily derogatory labelling. Way too harsh.

If they're going to give McAndrew a spell this is probably the week to do it with Nankervis 2- 4 weeks away as of 28 April. Balta did most of the ruck this week despite Oliver Hayes-Brown playing who only won 15 hit outs from 35 ruck contests?
