Ins - Outs
N Murray - Butts
Dawson - Bond
Fogarty - Walker
O'Brien - McAndrew
Edwards.- ANB
Nankervis - Cumming

Dawson gets his chance to play behind the ball & gives us another decent ball user along with Milera down back.

ROB to give McAndrewa decent break to take on Xerri as looked last week like he needed a break.

Allows T Murray to play mostly as a forward & manager minutes for both Fog & Filthy.

Give Edwards a decent run in the midfield & manage the minutes of our main midfielders needed v Roos as most can play up forward too.

B: Michaelanny, Murray, Borlase
HB: Milera, Worrell, Dawson
C: Cook, Edwards, Curtin
HF:Rachele, Fogarty, Keays
F: Pedlar, T Murray, Rankine
R: O’Brien, Berry, Soligo
I: Laird, Nankervis, Peatling, Taylor, Thilthorpe
Id keep ROB to go up against Xerri. He generally matches up well against him. Give McAndrew a few weeks rest.

I get the need to rest players that aren't fully fit but there's a more pressing need to work on ball movement and F50 entries and this is a golden opportunity to do that. So it's a fine line.

The only player I wouldn't mess around with is Thilthorpe. If he's carrying even a little bit of a back injury, put him in cotton wool for a week or two.

I wouldn't be resting anyone else unless they really need it.

Walker, Butts, ANB out
Fog, Murray, Dawson in
I think part of the problem will be somewhat like the Carlton game. Nicks is gonna feel a bit more comfortable about opening it up, which will give us more opportunities to play quicker and get it to our forwards, but he's not gonna do the same against a good side. So even if we practice out quicker ball movement, he's still gonna throw the handbrake on when we're in a tight game, especially against a good side.

I think we had five or six F50 entries kicked out on the full in the first 30 minutes of match play, all basically in the exact same part of the ground. Our understanding or feel for the ground dimensions was just plain wrong.
I hope this is specifically addressed this week before the game.
I wish, too, but based on previous mistakes ... I can't see it happening. :sadv1:
I reckon it had more to do with our horror skill level rather than ground dimensions.
Yeah, good point.

We only just got rid of RoB and people want to bring him in…

Are we forgetting the last half of the season last year and his pathetic finals series? Let’s not get cute with selections after our start to the year.

Didn’t RoB get like 12 hit outs in his one game this year but none to advantage?

Mcandrew plays low 70s TOG, he will be fine until the bye. Until then, our best ruck stays as number 1 and Rob stays well clear of the team. Mcandrew needs experience and to build fitness, he wont get that with a week off.

We always have one of these games against the bottom side a year where we demand half the side get rested. Wouldnt read to much into it. If anything I dont see any changes other than forced this weekend. If Lachie needs a rest then sure, but if not, forcing it is stupid when a bye is coming up anyway and players themselves if fatigued can have lighter managed weeks on the track. This happens a lot.

Id be playing ROB against Xerri next week as it backs onto a 5 day break against Hawthorn

Not this week.

Wow, people taking Richmond lightly...

Geelong and Hawthorn found out you only need to be slighyly off your game for a lesser team (Port) to take advantage.

And we are not travelling as well as Hawthorn/Geelong.

Nankervis also has a great preseason & has hardly been given a decent go... again.
He's been rubbish when selected. Also not clear at all who he would replace that is under-performing. I can somewhat see the argument for Cumming, but personally I'd be picking Cumming.

With people returning from injury Nankervis would be a fair way back.

Agree about Nankervis. I'd love to see him step up but he hasn't been.

I think the obsession with Cumming is a bit ridiculous. He nearly always makes good decisions and does the team orientated thing. He obviously hasn't been amazing, but he hasn't been as bad as his board whipping boy status would make you think.

Thats why it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Ferraris dont belong in an Excel race.
Sets a great example for other young players that are performing way way superior every week in the SANFL yet get continually get overlooked.....NOT.

And I might add last week's game was just about worst ever SANFL effort in 3 years.Sid's

Half the AFL side shouldnt be picked on form, thats where your logic falls down.
Nope you're missing the point completely, that's why players like Edwards, Dowling, Nankervis etc who are performing at high levels in the SANFL should be getting more opportunities. Draper is not in that category currently.

You prioritise talent.

No question Edwards deserves a go, theres no reason we cant play he and Draper in the same side. Nank.... meh.

Dowlings card has clearly been marked for better or worse.

Yep, I'm happy for Edwards and Draper to get games. That final spot on the bench should be for one of them.

Dowling's cards were probably marked after that preseason game against Freo.

Forced Outs
Walker
Butts

Possble Out
ANB (Knee)

Nurray seems an obvious in.

So the question will be if Dawson plays and whether Fogarty and Ah Chee come straight back into the seniors or have an SANFL game first.

If Walker and Butts are the only forced outs I could see Dawson and Nurray being the only changes.

If they want to fit Fogarty and/or Ah Chee in, and ANB does play then someone like Taylor, Pedlar and/or Bond are likely to be the ones to miss out.

Absolutely! Now that they've actually won a game their tails will be up. That said, even if they're struggling, we need to try and get % back as we were blown out of the water by Brissie, and we've fallen over the line in most of our games so far. Even the Carlton win wasn't convincing.

If we've already got Curtin who is severely underdone and managing minutes, I'm not sure we should be bringing Ah Chee straight in after not playing for nearly two months.
