The fixation on keeping the same structure needs to not continue, Walker going out doesn't automatically need we need to bring in an average tall like Maley.
Agree. Shows zero flexibility or tactical nous. One would think we'd use this to try alternative structures and add strings to our bow.

You adapt the team to be the most talented team on the park, rather than "errr well we always play with 4 talls" it's infuriating.

You’re underrating norths improvement
Maybe, but if the difference between us and North is ROB, given we are likely to have Fog and Ah Chee back, plus an extra week into Curtin..... then Zac Bailey isnt saving us.

McAndrew is playing his first full season of AFL footy, he'll need a spell.

Then give it to him this week ffs

How i think we may line-up...

Dawson down back with a smaller backline. Can always swing N Murray back if needed, but see what he's like as a key forward whilst Fog comes back from injury.

I doubt it. The club seems pretty determined to stick to their structure whenever possible.

I expect it will be Dawson replacing Taylor, and heading straight into the midfield. Rankine/Rachele on reduced midfield minutes accordingly.

Murray replacing Butts and heading straight back into the defence to form our standard dual KPD setup alongside Borlase.

Maley replacing Walker and heading straight back into the forward line to maintain a Temu version of the three-headed monster.

No other changes in terms of personnel or structure. Curtin to be plugged in wherever things aren't working.

They have already said they will play Dawson behind the ball.

Nick Murray was playing as a forward in the practice game.

Probably replace bond then

Indeed it will. It would be interesting if you're right, because it would signal a departure from what has been a very one-dimensional approach.

I expect we'll see Dawson drift back occasionally as usual, and Murray receive a brief cameo up forward once the game result is beyond doubt.

Let's just agree for once the club has done the right thing with Ah Chee and FOG coming back through the SANFL. Argument is there that ANB should as well.

Out of the bench of Taylor, Peatling, Nank, Pedlar, Dowling, Bond, Curtin and Maley it would be good to see Taylor, Peatling, Dowling, Curtin and Pedlar selected with Nank, Bond and Maley as emergencies. I could live with Nank over Taylor as well
I don't really see the point of bringing Fogarty back through the SANFL if I'm honest. Is the idea that he will be underdone and might not perform well? I don't see that as being a huge deal against Richmond - may as well get him up to speed in the AFL side.

Makes sense to me if they want to have him on heavily managed minutes, like playing half a game. Otherwise he's likely to be an upgrade over other options in the forward line and should play. Ah Chee through the SANFL makes sense to me as we aren't as limited in options in his position.

I hope they don"t rush Fog back.

Seen enough of Maley to know he is Nick Gill 2.0.

Ludo is next in line.

Turray showed last week he can play forward. In a less crowded forward line. And he is a good second Ruck.

What concerns me with our forward structure is what happens when Tex and Fog are back.

Do we go back to four big guys?

Or make the tough call that Tex/Fog dont play in the same 23.

Or drop Turray and RT Rucks?
Sorry but T Murray is an awful second ruck. He gets pushed out of position incredibly easily and it leaves the opposition ruck a free hit. He is completely ineffectual.

After 3 games
Irrelevant.
Discussion was about this weeks game and I responded to a quote that suggested Toby is a good second ruck. He's not.

Now could he eventually be? Maybe. He has shown that he has something in his game worth persisting with, but he has to learn how to hold his ground in ruck and marking contests. Maybe if he had rucked more at SANFL level he would have this already.

Not every contest. He will get better. Maybe good is a stretch, adequete.

Our best second Ruck is RT.
But the coaches too scared to Ruck him.

See Luke Jackson last night. RT is capable of that. With better forward craft and agility.
