That I50 which preceded the Keane game saving mark shouldn't have happened. JHF just waltzed into the centre from half forward with Hinge caught ball watching. Hinge just had to be right on him but he gave JHF two metres of space so he just bolted... We were very lucky to get away with this win and likely lose vs. the top 4 sides...

Nicks just sits there confused when an opposition midfield gets on top. Same thing happened against Freo.

He never tries to mix it up or if he does, only when a game is completely lost and unrecoverable (eg giving Keays a burst in the middle in the Freo game).

For example, why not switch Keays or Rachelle with Dawson for 10 minutes in the 2nd or 3rd quarter to help Dawson break the Bergman tag and get one of those guys in the game which has worked in the past?

Does Nicks actually forget these moves are available to him under the stress of game day?

We are the #1 team for Goals, #1 team for Goal Assists, #2 for marks inside 50 in the league despite being 7th for inside 50's.

We have the best forward line in the league. We had 41 inside 50's last night and had 24 scoring shots.

Our 3 KPF have 61 goals between them and are sitting 2nd, 7th and 14th in the Coleman race.

Our 3 smalls - are all in the top 40 for goals with Keays, Rachele, Rankine combining for 39 goals through 9 games.

How in the world could we be more dynamic?!?!?

We have a few issues but our forward line is definitely not one of them.

He’s a more defensive mid. I’m not sure having all of Dawson, Rankine and Sligo in the middle at the same time works. Individually they’re great but the combination seems to either be millionaires when on top or ineffective. There is no break even.

We looked better in the midfield once Berry came on.

The last couple of games port have been heavily outscored in the last and nearly over run. Maffew has been clearly been paying attention, genius.

I thought Izak had a quiet game by his current standards. However I watched the highlights and he seemed to be in a lot of our scoring chains.

Checking his score impact stats and he was still one of the most critical players on the ground (2 goals, 2 goal assists, 8 score involvments). Behind only Thilthorpe who was our best player by a mile.

I'd be swapping Rankine and Rachele's roles. Make Rankine more of a forward with bursts in the midfield, and make Rachele more of a midfielder (particularly CBA) with bursts up forward. Both match winners.

time to get draper back into the side as a midfielder not half forward and time to unleash Charlie Edwards.

I thought the plan that Pyke deployed to beat the Sloane tag worked well. Doing absolutely nothing different is in our DNA. Continuity will prevail, just trust it.

It doesn't take a genius coach to figure out how to break a tag for Dawson or Rankine as Dawson can play back at an elite level or forward and Rankine can play forward at an elite level.

As soon as Nicks went defensive and wanted to hold the lead with 8 mins left or whatever it was, it all went to shit. It had that typical crows loss feeling coming over it even though we were still ahead.

We are just lucky port didn’t kick straight (2.6) or were able to mark when going inside 50 in those last few few minutes when they kept bombing it in.
