If Rudd is in control at the next election, Labor will win.

The mindless Queenslanders will vote on ego (QLD PM) over anything else.

If Gillard is in, we get a minority government in the Coalition.

As much as I love minority goverments so the opposition parties can keep the bastards honest, Abbott is just that ****ed in his ways, that I want Labor to win.

It would be closer, but I still can't see the ALP winning.

I think it would be a bigger margin in favour of the Libs.

Well said:thumbsu:

My thoughts in Red. I might need to leave the country if Abbott becomes the PM.

Oh please, there would be half the population if everyone who threatened to leave the country when Howard was re-elected followed through.

Abbott is just another ****wit who will have his extremist views reigned in by the party.

The theatrics implying he's a Hitler or Gadafhi rather than someone you merely disagree with are OTT

its saying something that abbott is so uncharismatic and considered a ****wit by many... but that he's in the box seat for the next election....
Yeah you only have to look at the comments on the Abbottiser website. ;)

I despise him on so many levels.

I would feel sick if he became PM. I am not being over the the top in this statement.

This election is seriously Gioant Douche v Tird Sandwich and Poo Diaper has just entered the race. What an uninspiring packk of bickering **** wits.

Hockey, why u no run?

Is there anychance M.Turnball could lead the labor party?
Best leader on either side of the fence as far as I'm concerned. I normally vote labor, but given the nitwits & in-fighting they're currently going through I would happily vote for Turnbull. I'd rather be castrated than vote for Tony Abbott.

I'd like to see a return of Turnbull too but not sure if as head of the "rudd"erless Labor party. Joe Hockey is biding his time. The day everyone thought he'd put his hand up for the leadership, he made the decision not to run - not because he didn't want to, rather to time it right. That was Turnbull's mistake. He jumped in too early. Needed to let Nelson flounder for a while and self-destruct before making his move. Hockey has learned from that and will let Abbott self-destruct before making his move. I'd prefer Turnbull over Hockey though.

Turnbull suffers because he's well off (creating tall poppy syndrome) and isn't a head kicker (thus seeming soft).

Shouldn't have been replaced IMO. Still would like to see Joe Hock run. Would at least start up the 'who ate all the pie' headlines we've missed since B Eaze(ly)

This is how I feel.

I'm very likely to vote greens at the next election as I would never vote liberal, but the ALP is in a bit of shambles as well.

If Malcolm was the leader of the ALP, I'd vote for Labor.

There are no wets left to do the reigning in. Thats how the Libs ended up in opposition to begin with.

The whole party gets reigned in by newspoll.

The idea that a Prime Minister Abbott would radically alter this country is as silly as the idea a Prime Minister Gillard or Prime Minister Rudd would.

Turnbull has alot of problems Rudd has.

Namely an ingrained superiority complex meaning he doesn't play well with others. Doesn't go down well when you're sitting in a caucus of 100 other w***ers with a superiority complex

Hockey is infinitely preferable to Abbott.. but who isn't? I still prefer Turnbull over Hockey though.

Turnbull may be a silver tail, but at least he shares my convictions that Australia should be a republic - and sooner rather than later. I also think that he's relatively moderate, in a parliament where many of the libs are raving right wing loonies (especially Abbott) and labour have been forced too far to the left by the having to deal with the raving left wing loonies (AKA The Greens).

They're the ones I want gone. They're as bad as Pauline Hanson.

This may be one of Rudd's issues.. but it's not the primary reason why the party dumped him. There were a multitude of reasons..
  • A 24/7 work ethic that drove everyone around him up the wall (his office had the highest number of resignations in living memory).
  • An inability to work with the other parties/members in order to get things done.
  • An inability to focus on one issue long enough to bring it to a satisfactory resolution - he was constantly moving from one project to the next, leaving everything half done so that it all collapsed like a house of cards.
  • Being poll driven to an extent not seen in any previous leader, from either side of the house.

Contrast that with Gillard & Howard:
  • Howard had the strong work ethic, but was able to take people along with him, Rudd just burned them out and left them behind. I'm not sure that Gillard has Howard's work ethic, but nobody has ever called her lazy either, so I suggest she's got a good work/life balance happening.
  • Howard & Gillard both showed the ability to work with the other parties. Howard would never have got WorkChoices or the GST through the senate without this ability. Gillard has done a remarkable job to hold her minority government together for 18 months and now looks like lasting the full 3-year term, she couldn't do this without negotiating with the independents.
  • Howard was singleminded about many of his ideological desires and didn't let his focus waver from them until the last "i" was dotted and "t" crossed. Gillard has delivered on things like the NBN, MRRT and the Carbon Tax (like it or loathe it), none of which look like falling over in the way that Rudd's projects frequently did.
  • Howard & Gillard have both shown a willingness to pursue policies which they thought were best for the nation, knowing full well how unpopular they would be - think WorkChoices and the Carbon Tax. Rudd would have abandoned both at the sight of the first bad opinion poll.

Rudd is photogenic and does really well playing off against Hockey on TV. I'm struggling to think of any good he does though as a politician - and he was a disaster as Prime Minister (easily the worst PM in my lifetime).

Sounds very similar to the way a well known church in Adelaide's North-Eastern suburbs operates...
