Ratts on SEN

Can't believe I'm writing this but of the 3 I think we are missing Carrots most. Huge fan of Grigga and Scotty picks himself but Carrots just gets the ball - something we couldn't do last week.

I wouldn't have thought that we would make 3 changes to a winning team.

2 at most would be my preference. The last thing we would want to do is unsettle a winning team.

Dropping 3 players from last night's midfield rotation is an extremely tough call and I don't think we had 3 players that deserve to be dropped.

I'm not opposed to changing a winning team for the better, and we're definately better for having those 3 in the team.

I think that not changing a winning team has been used a few too many times this year after some easy wins and we havent had our best team on the park when we get to the tougher games.

Just because we are winning doesnt mean we cant improve the team.

Great news :thumbsu:

I think Russell and Robbo will make way for Scotland and Grigg.

The injury list states that Carrazzo is still 2 weeks away so we won't be rushing him back.

Yep, predicted this in my thread last night. Im expecting Russell, Gartlett and Armfield to make way. If Robinson is suspended Russell will have to buy a tattslotto ticket as he will survive being dropped for another week...

Russel will not be dropped, i think we just need to accept that.

I think he will, perhaps not this week but it is certainly on the cards unless he turns his form around. There is alot of pressure for spots in the half-forward line right now, especially now that Houlihan and Fisher both had solid games upon returning. Depending on who we are playing I can certainly see Wiggins, Houlihan, Robinson, Cloke, O'hAilpin, Yarran, Carrazzo and Walker (once fit) squezing him out of our best 22.

Armfield won't be going anywhere. Rats complimented on his efforts after the match.

Russell will make way for one.

Good, i like Scotland playing, and Grigg was doing well before he went out.

So... why is Russell played each week, when he was shocking last night, he really should be dropped. I actually Like russell, think he will be a good player, but just maybe needs to be dropped to realise some things.

Out: Russell and Robbo.
IN: Scotland and Grigg.

no more changes needed.

I like the pressure coming from Garlett and Robbo in our forward line. It really makes a difference and helps the midfield as they have time to man up and read the play better.

Garlett should stay IMO.

Becoming another JR thread?

Was quiet last night - it's almost annoying, because he's got lots of talent but just seems unable to impose himself on the game, was doing alright about a month ago but now seems to have no confidence (maybe Wall's article got to him?). You'd imagine he'd be close to being dropped, and if he goes back and gets some confidence then he could actually be quite a good player.

If Scotty & Grigg come in, then JR & Robbo would have to be on the chopping block you'd reckon - thought Robbo showed great intensity but his disposal ain't that flash.

Thought Gartlett was good last night but he also may be a player who could be dropped to make way for others, and possibly Browne who had a better game the week before - did alright last night but because of others he may be in consideration for demotion, although i reckon he deserves another game.

Be good win to the boys last night and promising signs from players like Hammo and Austin - we know Gibbs and the other mids are going to be great, but for us to be a good side we need the talls coming through

Can't see Carrots coming back in even if he is fit. Probably would need only a week in the twos if that, just to regain some touch as I wouldn't have thought a finger would stop him from running. Can't see us making three changes so I'd think only Grigg and Scotland will come in.

At the moment we are lacking a lot of experience - Gartlett, Robinson, Hampson, Joseph, Austin, Browne and Armfield all in the 22 having played less than 20 games. I know supporters are fed up with the inexperience argument but the stat speaks for itself.

A third of the side with that little inexperience and I find it very pleasing that we are able to completely dominate for parts of the game. Of course (most of) these guys are gonna be inconsistent, from quarter to quarter and week to week.

On the other side of the coin, the Eagles had nine 100+ gamers to our 5 - most of theirs premiership players. There's no doubting that we are at the moment a very inexperienced side, even moreso than we were last year. The media don't portray us as such - only heard snippets of the MMM commentary at the game but no doubt the Weagles would have been called the more inexperienced team on the night.

Getting Scotland, Carrazzo and Grigg back over the next couple weeks will be instrumental and these guys have played enough footy - Grigg getting there, to have an impact from week to week and quarter to quarter.

We are coming but we are a very young side and it might be another year yet before we truly arrive. Make no mistake though, the youngsters will continue to improve and improve fast - as we saw with Grigg, Gibbs and Bower. When they do, we'll be a far better team for it.

And there's not much improvement needed for us to be a genuinely good team, I don't think. We've shown we're far better than the poorer sides in the competition - four wins by 40+ points is testament to that. Three losses by less than 7 points - not much improvement needed for us to be 8-2 instead of 5-5.

I would be fairly confident that Garlett will stay in the side. A couple of goals, plus some nice run through the middle, displayed what this kid can do. The SC would be mad to drop a goalkicker as we need to spread the goalkicking load.

And he just keeps moving. When everyone else is on their heels, he's still running and making options for teammates. Scotty's pretty similar. Both needed.

Agreed. I'd be very surprised and disappointed if he was one that made way. I can't see us making 3 changes this week, Grigg and Scotland (if fit) should be included but i'd give Carrazzo an extra week. 2 of Russell, Armfield and Robinson will be the unlucky ones i think.

Garlett was pretty good last night, and should be retained in the side, Kicked 2, could have been 3, and gives us some real leg speed up in the forward line. He and Eddie compliment each other very well.

I haven't seen the Robinson incident, so I can only hope he gets off the charge. He really does give us that real goer in the team that we have been looking for for ages.

Been wondering how robbo would go as a defender, might have been interesting to see him get a gig on le cras the other night to see how he went. Imagine him playing on milne giving him a clip over the ear every time milne went near the ball.

Considering the way we won V WC and Coll and the crap we played in Qld V Freo and in Adelaide I do not think winning form is ncessarily fielding our best team.
