Agree - Whately annoys me with his slant with certain teams at times.

And we won't be able to play that way at all times given there is an opposition who are trying to stop it, why can't they acknowledge that?

I am looking forward to bursts like that being a much more regular thing as this team gets confidence and more cohesion with Bolton in the team.
Difference is Buckley is paying attention and Whatley is superficial and winging it.

It is easy to spot when you are aware. Buckley is quite detail orientated and thoughtful. I have limited my football media intake this season due to the time drain. Launching a new business is taking up a chunk of time and will continue to for a couple more months. By then we will be in the 3-5th position on the ladder and the year will be very enjoyable.

JLo and Buckley are good mates so Bucks usually tries to put a positive spin on all things Freo.

A bit like Matthew Lloyd when his brothers were at the club, now that they've left he's much more impartial.

I will take what I can get where the media is concerned.

Buckley seems pretty reasonable with most teams he discusses. I still think he has more insight than most.

Thought both Cox and Ryan were much more aggressive. And better for it.

Still feels all of Ryan/Cox/Draper/Pearce is a bit 'clunky' - too tall/slow/variable by foot, but if they can find a way to "gel' and get it in the hands of runners like Clark, it will start to move a bit quicker. Ryan's kicking and choices against the Bullies was much better.

I like the idea of not peaking too early. Dockers get smacked by Geelong, and everyone's hyping up the Cats & lamenting us simultaneously. They (Cats) then lose the next 2. Any team, on any given day can be vulnerable or awesome, dependently. Maybe not west Coast, but anyways.. :laughv1:

The old cliche: "it's a marathon. Not a sprint". I'll take it and run with it myself.

I'm as disappointed with that start as anyone else, but if they win the next 2, it'll be 4-2, where as last year they went 3-3. We're looking for the small improvements, the 'heres & theres'. There are bigger tests out there, but the biggest cliche of them all: "one game at a time". That's how it is.

And as the season builds, what transitional elements take effect that show a more 'satisfactory' trajectory. Hopefully that's what's building off the back of 2 wins. Bulldogs are a good team, obviously the Eagles are trash but you can only play and beat what's out in front of you. The Dockers just needed to bag a win.

And Young and Darcy are on the comeback train now. Choo choo!!! So that's exciting :)

Agree about cox. His contested marking was strong, he killed contests well and his kicking was excellent. If he can continue in this form we are in for a great year from him. Back to the trajectory before his injury run. His kicking helps make up for some our run issues.

Ryan has built into the year nicely! More please!

We need more run from the back half, desperately. If Chappy can become the gun he has the potential to be and our big guys feed him a bit he will be very damaging. Add Simpson after an apprenticeship at Peel and we are looking ok back there.

Busy 24 hours for poshman, secretly leaves the Optimism thread, throws hand grenades left right & centre & then comes home to his Optimism thread like nothings happened out there.

(That’s the way I’m picturing it anyway)
I'm conjuring up this:

"To the extreme, I rock a mike like a vandal..
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle!"

Plus Chapman who at 193cm is taller than Pavlich. It's really 2 x KPP and 3 x 3rd talls which is one too many but all deserve a spot so it's hard for match committee. Early in the year you can justify the big backline + 3 tall forwards but come June/July when it's wet changes will need to be made.

No Walker, no Wagner so who gets the gun small forwards the next month? Kozzie could have a field day when we play Melbourne.

Maybe with O'Driscoll out they return to the idea of Chappy to the wing.
