Probably slow on the uptake but varmint rifles are fine for small game that specifies small game arrows. I managed to finally one shot a snake in the head with a small game arrow but was struggling everything else. Out of curiosity I tried a varmint rifle on rabbits, squirrels and raccoons with no problems getting a pristine pelt.

If the multiplayer hat selection doesn't include the one worn by Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber, I will throw rocks.

My only criticism of the game was limiting the characters for the horse name - tried to have "Dufflecoat Supreme" in honour of Graham and The Colonel but alas, I had to accept Dufflecoat as the name.

Great minds and all that. I ended up settling for 'Mr Dufflecoat'.

Most of the story missions are just shoot outs.

But the story and atmosphere behind them creates an epic scene - truly amazing game.

I could never enjoy GTA games. Just stupidly unrealistic. Whereas RDR has some realistic gameplay mixed with the Hollywood..whereas GTA IS totally Hollywood.

Maybe it's me but I like the notion that hey this could have happened.

Off to the movies with partner....RDR will be 9pm tonight...

Sell pelt to the trapper for using in crafting. Make trinket with Antlers with a fence.

Healing in gunfights is just a pain in the ass especially when you're ambushed or in a fight with no chance of cover, I'm spending way too much time fumbling through my weapon/item wheels making sure i pick the right thing that will recover health or stamina or dead eye and more often then not i die because of it. Also making sure i keep my weight right is tedious and annoying after a few hrs, I'm all for realism in gaming but sometimes it's too much. Other than those couple of things loving the game a tonne.

Don't think you're meant to be taking healing items during a gun fight.

A great demonstration by one of the best TV reviewers on youtube outside of RTings if anyone is interested in tech. On an LED I personally still prefer HDR on than off because while it does raise the blacks I prefer the clarity of the dark scenes like at night time. I’m going to switch my TVs around again on the weekend though (missus won’t notice) so I’ll try SDR on the OLED as it will be brighter than the LED anyway.



Taking nothing away from the game itself I’m going to be that one guy to make a critical comment and that is GTA V was a greater technical achievement on PS3/360 than RDR2 is on current gen. GTA V pushed the hardware, across completely incompatible architectures, and achieved a result in a way only exclusive titles could that were optimised to the target platform from the start. This time around RDR2 was built on hardware using the same architecture as their target platforms and to be brutally honest it only really shines on a single platform (the latest and most powerful). The rest are rather poorly optimised. The Xbox One X gets a native 4K obviously because it can drive it so it doesn’t take the performance hit from requiring AA, but instead of properly optimising the PS4 Pro version they just upscale and apply what looks like brutal TXAA and it still can’t hold a stable 30fps. If it could then I wouldn’t get what seems like a 3:2 pulldown judder when running game motion plus on my Samsung. Starting to rant now, but this HDR issue IMO goes to show that there wasn’t as much emphasis on the technical development as on the actual game itself.

Yes and the game runs horrible in a city shootout. They need to fix it.
The game also glitched when I spent 30 mins hunting a legendary wolf but I couldn’t get the skin off my horse.
Fantastic game but a few glitches to iron out asap.

I didn’t want to post any more tech videos but Digital Foundry got theirs up and for those hoping for a performance fix, especially on a PS4 platform, shouldn’t hold their breath. It’s not as simple as tuning some textures or post processing effects. It comes down to how Rockstar have used the hardware and basically they would have to tear it down and start again. Given RDR2 is going online like GTA there will be plenty of continued post launch support so they just might put the time in to fix it but it would be a pretty massive overhaul.
