Anyone who is wearing ripped jeans/ 3/4 jeans must have purchased them on afterpay.

Used the same gag on my 22 year old niece two weeks ago.

The ripped jeans thing was the tip of the iceberg. On it's own, not really a thing. It's hard to argue that paying to wear ripped clothes appears a bit foolish and he was having a go at her about it. Judgemental- yes, but not racist

The reason it blew up is that the Rioli's had suffered from a long history of lack of respect and racism in the organisation (detailed in the article). Knowing the history, her reaction makes sense.

Kennett is a windbag but I think he's copping too much flack over a minor comment on fashion when the discussion should be focusing on the Hawk's culture.

As (long term) president, isn't he responsible for that culture? It wasn't the players ignoring suggestions of cultural awareness training or hiring an indigenous liason officer.

He is. I meant that the headline shouldn't be that Jeff said mean things about shit fashion, instead it should be that the Hawk's culture needs work and Jeff is responsible.

They still have a mature core group, and they are all fit and healthy. New coach bounce for sure. Will be interesting if they do get some injuries and their depth is tested. That may be when they slip a bit. Helps being a big VIC club, no travel burden as we well know!
