What? Top 4 is always better than not.

It means that if they somehow get a week 1 win, that's a week off and a home prelim against that 'banged up' side. Far better than the path for a non top 4 team. There's a reason the flag has only been won once from outside the top 4 since 2000.

It's not ideal.

If you're a Freo fan, you'd take a week 2 finals appearance anyway. Their window (unfortunately) is beginning to open and things are looking promising for 2023 and beyond.
