Won't win a premiership with this guy there. Simple.

I'm not blaming anything on him - he just has massive limitations.
This just isn’t true. Rucks are almost never the difference between being a premiership team and not. ROB has limitations but he competes and that’s basically all you need.

Hence the likes of Stanley, Fort, Vardy, Lycett have premiership medals.

ROB's form certainly seems to have gone to shit since 1) he signed a new contract and 2) he learned we were still chasing Draper.

No it hasn’t.

He was good against Hawthorn and West Coast, and good again last night.

In fact, he should have had two goals, if the umpire had called a 50m penalty against Moore, and Keays hadn’t have selfishly demanded the ball off him in the 3rd.

Agreed, I like seeing our ruckman outbodied and outplayed by a smaller lighter opponent who taps to his players

You think Nick Murray is going to be better?

Kidding yourself.

Btw ROB won the hitouts as he fairly consistently does, and we won the clearances. Plenty of teams with stock standard rucks have very effective midfield systems, case in point is the Pies, Cameron wins 40% of his ruck contests.

Our midfield issues are not because of ROB, he is fine.

It’d be nice to have an elite ruck, but getting one in now would be a waste of cash and draft picks, that are better spent elsewhere.

Maybe McAndrew is a better option, and we should try him at some point, but Murray certainly isn’t.

Mate, I'd be better than O'Brien.

Stop kidding yourself and wake up, that guy is delivering a hatful of shit since he got his 3 years. I'd rather we played another mid than have that sack of shit stinking up our team.

But that's me, I'd rather win flags than eat Apricot slice, but you do you

What did ROB do on Thursday night that was so bad?

He won the hit outs, took as many marks as Cameron, and was also our second highest player for score involvements.

I’d say him and Cameron broke even and their match up had absolutely zero to do with why we lost.

That's ridiculous. He had a couple of down games in the last two rounds, has otherwise had a good season and was fine on Thursday. He's not a world beater but is absolutely adequate as a ruck, and has had some good games since he re-signed.

It's odd that this thread has gained momentum. ROB was fine on Thursday. We beat Collingwood when his opponent received 10 coaches votes.

He is a ruckman. Ruckman dont really matter.

We lost to Collingwood for 3 reasons.

1. No Rachele / Rankine.
2. Nicks is a dumbass.
3. TT, Dawson, Soligo, FOG, Keays, Milera, Hinge, Peatling, Cumming (no surprise) all played terrible games.

Last touch/disposal rule coming in next year between the arcs and wrestling/crossing line ruck rules also likely changing again… there’s surely got to be lots of questions over ROB’s ‘effectiveness’ as a AFL footballer going forward with these changes.

It’s good no one at the club blinked and gave him a multiple year contract because of club culture reasons…

Why not make last disposal across the whole field? Instead of 90% fixing the problem of 'insufficient intent', they've now only 33% fixed it! If you stuff up the disposal and it goes out...your fault, and no need to judge intent.

Like Peatling Cumming and ANB having RoB lessens the likelihood of having Draper here

So Im ok for now

Because in the SANFL it’s stupid when someone kicks to spot up a forward and it falls short or goes over their head and bounces out that it is an automatic turnover or if someone kicks for goal and it falls short and does a 90 degree bounce and hits the behind post/goes over the line that you get punished for trying to score with a turnover.

Also they want to still give rucks a ‘place in the game’, between the arcs works fine in the AFLW.

Won’t be too bad, most ruck contests aren’t centre bounces. Will cost him a bit, but won’t reduce him totally. Last disposal is good, I just don’t understand why it wouldn’t apply in your defensive 50.

I’d be happy excluding forward 50, but it definitely should apply to defensive 50.
