I have always thought RS should not be rs, and has the guns to be a weapon for us.
Most have lost patience with him.
Wonder if he can reinvent himself in 18 as a KB replacing Domsy.
He is tall, quick, skilled, and a decent mark.
I can visualise that happening.

Would've thought Domsy's spot would be taken by Ryan Gardner myself.

Unfortunately can't see a spot in the seniors as long as Smith is fit. Even then I'd be more interested in seeing what Abbott can do in the seniors before Stanley.

IMO he stamped his papers as purely a depth player with his sub-standard efforts in the game against Box Hill late in the season.

If the question is... KF , KB or ??? I think I may have to vote for ????

I have a feeling that as much as he has been given many talents that most others would love to have .. he lacks intuitive initiative to make the most of them ... and I'm not convinced he is the most competitive guy. Does he really burn for it? Perhaps he could develop down back but id say we have to totally ignore the temptation to play him just on his talent. If they play him a season down back in the VFL , and treat him like they have Gardner ..who knows.. but I doubt we will do that ..and RS will end up being one of those guys who you wonder why he could do more with what he had

Dole queue.

Might have excellent top end speed but has the turning circle of a truck and is slow off the mark. Even worse, he is as soft as they come and his efforts at times are nothing short of disgraceful.

In conclusion, he is a poor mans version of shaun hampson and should not be anywhere near our afl team

The dicipline and responsibilities of defence may turn him around, it could happen, so why not?
CHB where he can use his run with abilities would suit him better than FB imo.
We are light on for tall defenders, it's his best bet and at least we might extract some value.

The guy is ordinary, he just doesn't seem to have much footy IQ. He has shown he isn't much chop as a KF, he is an average back up ruck...heaven help us if we move him to a KB role.

But hey, he won the GF sprint once...

Carlton fans would’ve said the same thing about Liam Jones

Quite right.....but I can understand why people are now writing him off...he haas been a disappointment, particularly so given his athleticism.

Just hasn't found his niche at AFL level. Maybe try him up back in pre season and see how he goes. Nothing much to lose.

and if that doesn't work trade him to the Blues

He has played very good games in the ruck. That is his go. But Smith stands in his way.
The ruck does seem the best fit for him. StKilda tried him in different positions and could not get it right. Maybe he is just a slow developer, remember how long it took Hawkins to get going. That said, it would be interesting to see him play in the backline.

He can play ruck in the vfl, and only play in the 1’s if smith needs a rest. Delist at the end of the year when his contract expires, or offer a 1 yr deal on minimum dollars.

His Vfl form after getting dropped was nothing short of pathetic. Showed he is a peaheart who was sulking for being dropped, not someone who was prepared to do the hard yards to get back into form. Poor attitude.

Yep 100%. I would have payed out his contract after seeing his efforts in the VFL. Was sulking big time and that sort of attitude is cancerous amongst a playing ground, more so when we are trying to show the youngsters how to go about it. Cant believe he got a game after that.

He's a 2nd ruckman ... or a relief ruckman. We can't afford to play both him and Blicavs in the same team. That's who he's competing with for a spot imo.

And he can go forward, whereas Blicavs hasn't proven that he can.

I didnt see that effort but i did hear about it and agree....

If you go back - take it in stride and develop like GHS has - chin up and teach, learn and lead.

Sulking is for kinder kids.

Except maybe young Gardner when his contract is up.

We have young Gardner developing in the twos who is much the same size as Domsy. And I would have liked to have seen him get a game at K'Park during the year. We also have Timm House in the VFL who plays both back and forward and is key position size.

There are also med talls in Thurlow, Henry and Zach Guthrie.

Has he been tried down there as a tall mobile forward?
I cannot recall that happening.

I can recall a couple of short stints but nothing that suggests it'll become a regular thing.

One would hope the leadership group could do something about this, more so than the coaches.
