Interesting comment from Carey (although biased because of his own position) claiming that teams would take Jonno Brown or Nick Riewoldt at their physical peak over Chris Judd or Gary Ablett Jr at their physical peak.

Who would you take?

I want to change my vote to KPF. Didn't realise this was about peak form. Over their careers I'd take the mids easily, but give me J Brown at his absolute peak any day if his body and form could hold together.

I agree, give me the 2 gun KFs any day of the week.

Gotta go Brown and Reiwoldt.

Your midfield can have one, two, three, ten stars running through it (if you are lucky enough), but key forwards of great standing are few and far between - and you can't accomodate too many of them.

Geelongs forwards weren't great 07-09 but because out midfield was awesome we could accomodate for it.

Very true.

Your lack of superstar forwards also likely cost you the 2008 flag as well, wouldn't you agree?

Very, very hard poll. Any of the four at their peak are game changing players. Would go the mids as they're not reliant on what's happening elsewhere on the field.

Also, a midfielder is far easier to fit into a structure, whereas a player of Brown or Riewoldt's ilk up forward pretty much requires a gameplan set around them. They get injured and it takes weeks to readjust.

Over the course of their careers, it becomes a no brainer. Both Ablett and Judd have been incredibly consistent - Judd for the majority of his career, Ablett for 4 and a half years. Brown and Riewoldt - not so much.

nick riewoldt is 'superstar' forward and his kicking is very inaccurate.

so...like i said.

Left West Coast off, veiled way of saying Judd is better at Carlton?.

Not at all. It's been a while since he was at the club and while they still have an appreciation for him it's not as close to the heart as what GAJ is for the Cats.

Ablett Jr and Judd easily. Might be a different story if Carey hadn't picked the 5th and 6th best CHF's since he retired though. Give me a combo of Richo/Tredrea/Franklin/Pavlich versus Ablett and Judd and I might change my answer.
