Our midfield depth is atrocious. We cannot go into next year with the same midfield. If they aren't going all out for Dunkley...

Jones to be dropped. Replaced by Baldwin. Snelling also out.

I'm so glad there's only 2 games left.
Not brining in Baldwin based on his last couple of weeks.

I agree 100%, but we don’t have a DNA like Collingwood, we just pick and choose when to have a crack and still believe in ‘turn up and win’ as a concept
Yep pick and choose like ZACH MERRETT another game when he chooses to not bring any intensity to his game. It’s why he shouldn’t be captain, but yep he’ll bring it next week if he gets a whack in the media.

Credit to Perryman who is a really good player and played a great role in tagging him out of it.

At work, listened to the first 3 qtrs on radio and watched the last on kayo. Watching it was the more painful. Disgraceful effort.

Marks 144 to 83
Contested marks 16 to 8
Uncontested Possesions 232 to 192
Contested Possesions 127 to 115
1%s 42 to 25
Tackles 54 to 47
Inside 50 Tackles 16 to 1

Weak, lazy pricks

Not only were the players beaten but Rutten was comprehensively out coached by mcviegh. I just don't see it with Rutten. Boring game, boring coach, predictable result.

Has not been able to work out all season what we do with parish and Merrett in same mid.

On another note could we try Jones at chb for a QTR or Swap into Ridley's role on days like today. Vice versa swinging Ridley fwd when he is just playing pedestrian.

Merrett with stints at FF - when we don't have the Caldwell/shiels blocking for him.

We just look slow and predictable in our losses, rather than young and mistake ridden which I'd prefer.

Massimo, Menzies, Byran all in from now on please. Also I'd be happy if we don't rock up next week/play all kids and then just get up to try and keep Richmond out of the finals and one last effort for Heppel, Stewart, ruttens? 😅 last games as bombers.

Although I still think it is 90% players it is poor efforts like today that put the coach under pressure. They are not buying what he is selling but I wonder if it is they do not want to buy it more than anything. The soft culture strikes again and it is often the big names at fault.

Gws were always going to come out firing today and we brought zero intensity. So poor. Should show the boys a replay of collingwood from last night, that’s the standard of pressure which is required.
Night and day. You could show the boys Collingwood last night but im not sure it achieves anything. They already know whats required, they just choose when to put in effort.

How do you change a mindset and culture that appears to just accept being mediocre and happy enough with "promising progress".
There's talk about bringing in Clarkson, but can he really just flick the switch that suddenly makes these guys hate losing?

Outside of Stringer while at the Doggies, is there any player on our list who has played in team that could be said to have had a successful season (maybe one or two of Shiel's at GWS)?

If losing is the standard, how do you change it?

Haven't seen the game so can't comment on any of it but the non selection of Massimo has me scratching my head. We are in rebuilding mode, he has shown enough, he needs to get games so why is he not in the starting 22?

Surely you look at Hind and Heppell and say someone needs to make way, we are rebuilding.

Its stuff like this that has you questioning the club, the coach and everything we are trying to do.

I think making players accountable. Maybe I missed it but I didn't see any coaches calling out Jones, or throwing him to chb and even subbing him out. He was kind of just let coast through and have no impact. Wasn't alone.

Getting parish to block for Merrett or draper to put some physicality towards perryman. We just struggle through things until the point that the players give up or are half hearted.

They keep trying/running around but don't see anyone actually changing anything or having a influence. Maybe we can bring in some onfield leadership. If we had any of this, I doubt Heppel would be playing 1's.

Club, coach, players we are number 1 for going through the motions.

Ward/Gunston well outside our window but might be able to teach some leadership

they did stop on us but let's be real,
they are giants,
and we're just a soft mascot essington toy..

I went out of my way to make sure I could watch the second half and was struggling to maintain interest after about 5 minutes. Shocking.

I couldn't believe we went in favorites!

Agree with the Collingwood statement but in reality we had nothing to play for. Would love a Maynard type in our side though.

Snelling, Heppell, Jones didn't have any impact.

Man, we were flat

I didn’t watch the game but I reckon we are better without parish in terms of midfield balance
did Heppell spend time on Whitfield on the wing as the radio suggested? That’s not a good match up for us
i am guessing Sam taylor shut down wright?

Fair enough. I haven't really watched VFL recently. Maybe Bryan or Phillips to play two rucks again.
Phillips was close to best.
Bryan played second ruck / forward and was okay. No issues having another look at him.
Voss was so so but he has been playing with force and making tackles so maybe we look at him.
Not sure Menzie did enough.
Hurley looks on track for a farewell game.
