I go most weeks and I do tend to look more positively than negatively. I also acknowledge a different perspective live than on TV.
Positives:
Alger was where the ball was. Good start.
Ross is a midfielder. Keep playing him there
Banks overtaken Short. Keep playing him there
Trainer can be like Curtain on the wing after a couple of preseasons. Stick with him there.
Yze game plan is not about flooding the back line and limiting loss margins. Wants to play the right way and is prepared to make changes. He’s not the problem.

Negs
Sonsie. Not up to it.
Steely. Not up to it
Balta - confused. I reckon he’s an old fashioned ruck rover, but being versatile hasn’t allowed him to nail down one position (too loose to be full back - Miller better as a lockdown)
Lynch gets treated differently to other forwards by the umps, but let emotions take over. I can’t be angry that a player is passionate and gets undisciplined, but he’s still too good not to kick 2-3 every week.

But we’re on the right track.

happy to, what he did was not on, don’t care if he’s not getting treated how he’d like to by the umpires, you just don’t lash out like he did

Lynch barely touched him…the player got up quickly and took his kick

The crows player should be looked at for staging just quietly

The most patient man would have done what lynch did today…no biggie…shit happens…still a champion

And so we should….

credit to butts though he got a fist into almost every marking attempt lynch went up for. meanwhile down the other end our defenders are trying to out body a literal giant and wondering why he just stands there and clunks marks.

Been getting held for years! These blokes are professional footballers who pump iron, box & live in a world fuelled by testosterone & we expect them to compete & leave no stone unturned, yes they get paid reasonable money but it’s relative to what they produce in the grand scheme of things. Any Tiger supporter or so called supporter who had a problem with that today can ** off as far as I’m concerned! He’ll be suspended because the AFL is a PC piece of shit! He basically threw a reverse inside bitch slap in frustration, it wasn’t a king hit & anyone who thinks it was needs to go & sit in a support group for soft ***!
Imagine actually being physically fit, strong & tough on hundreds of thousands of dollars a year & you can’t impose yourself on a contest because of the optics involved! Looks like Tom won’t ever get a gig on dancing with the stars!

100% 👍

We all know we have some young guns that are going to take us back up the ladder, but my concerns are the game plan or lack thereof.

Not enough overlap running and too much bombing to contests. We also don't switch the play often enough.
Our forward handball game is non-existent. Most teams do play that way, even the Eagles are playing the handball game, yes they can muck it up, but this is the game style that gets through presses and opens up the play when moving forward.

Positives:
  • Alger was our most likely looking forward (if that's a positive). He just needs to be in the team for the remainder of the year now and a big preseason.
  • Ross was good through the middle. A point of difference to Hopper and Taranto, as he either got a long handball out of the contest or got enough space to straighten up before kicking. TT and Hopper both kick around the body aimlessly or handball in tight but the next player is immediately under pressure.
  • Broad keeps repaying the faith. Such a great player to have around.
  • No debutant as the sub.

Negatives:
  • Midfield.... This forums a broken record so when will the coaches change it up. Hopper, Ross and Taranto all need to be spending 1/3 game time on the forward flank. They both did it at GWS and the game has gone past having those types win games. Worryingly I think Yze coming from Melbourne hasn't adjusted and still sees that as our future and trying to emulate Oliver, viney and brayshaw.
  • Exiting the D50. We need to at least practice some different kickouts or if we're going to go to the right and down the line, then setup with all the players waiting to hit the ball with speed.
  • Steely Green.. must have photos of Yze or something.. if there's any selection integrity he needs to be dropped! Even if there's not a like for like replacement.

Go to sleep tonight thinking about these blokes …watching them mature into consistently solid high performance players ….

Won’t be a matter of when we win out next flag , it’ll be how many

No game plan can accommodate for blonks trying to execute it , mansell and green got like 10p between them while there direct opponents have > 40 no game plan gonna beat that , you with me

For starters
I’ve been pretty disappointed the way they’ve structured the fwd line with Lynch having to compete against two at least this season and wouldn’t surprise me if Lynch asked for more and they brought in Lefau.
The fact they didn’t send Balta fwd when Lefau went down and until after Lynch lost his sh.t makes me start to doubt Yze.
Lynch is a better talent and has had twice the career of anyone in our coaching box and they’ve asked his to hang around to help bring on the young fwds but geez for a bloke that’s been out for two years to just be left to get mauled by dbl teams and triple teams…I think that’s treating a bloke who helped get the clubs two flags without respect.
Pretty ordinary

Second thing
There is nothing I like about Taranto I’d prefer to see the back of him

Lynch is a professional athlete on a million dollars a year.
Trying to blame the coaching staff for Lynch being a sook and undisciplined is ridiculous.

Hotton should be the end of Green.

We field at least 3 players a week who have practically zero impact on the game. You just can't hope to be competitive with that sort of cattle in your 23.

Just have to keep reminding ourselves they're only placeholders for guys like Hotton Smilie Lalor and Mcauliffe

And so we should….

Lynch has had this sort of treatment for years and nothing has changed except he has now had a gut full and responds in a way that sadly is becoming more frequent and giving away both frees and game time. We can complain all we like but he is responsible for how he chooses to react. Or we could actually get smart and realise he gets double or triple teamed and have smalls around him to capitalise on the ball - just a thought.

Whenever I see Hops have the ball for more than 3 seconds in congestion I yell at the TV because half the time he'll try to side step the oppo and then get caught holding the ball. Then when he has time and space he'll bang it onto the boot and just turn it over. Needs to be better.

Is Yze an asset or a problem?

I’m genuinely trying to give him the benefit of the doubt so I’m no hater of Yze at all, but our offence and midfield are just so inept. Last time our forward line was this bad was in the early 60s. Midfield is so slow too, and he’s choosing this midfield. I can’t help but wonder whether there are better coaches that could get our side to perform better.

Hard question to answer IMO with all the injuries that occur, but I’m probably not 100% on the Yze train like I was a few weeks ago. I’m starting to have my doubts
Not much he can do with a dire list health left to him by Dimma. It’s going to be a few seasons before we have the quality to make finals. Just going to have to be patient

We are finishing the year like how we did last year. Hopefully 3 wins will be enough to avoid the spoon.
Why hopefully? If it’s going to be a shit year may as well get the spoon so we have first dibs in the draft. Finishing anywhere in the bottom 4 is shithouse… whether it’s 18 or 15 it’s basically the same
