Rookie Draft

Only two of them are going to play as rucks, the top two. Moran is not going to be a ruckman for the Crows. Tippett can play ruck but they have made it very clear they expect him to be a forward. McKernan was not hired as a ruckman and Sellar is not going to be a ruckman either. McKernan may grow but both he and Sellar are too short to be true ruckmen.

We only have four real ruckmen on our list; Maric, Griffin, Tippett and McKernan. That is not enough, considering we don't expect two of them to play in that position.

Moran can play ruck, and did successfully for us last year. Many feel ruck will be Tippett's best position, including the Crow's ruck coach. There are only two spots in the team, and often you will have one ruckman play the majority of time. We'll have folks leaving for lack of opportunity - we have enough size.

So that would make Rendells rankings:

Davis 2nd
Mc Kernan 3rd-14th?
Sloane 15th
Lee 18th
Young 27th

I think Rendell said that all players were in their top 20. Since Lee was 18th, that would surely imply that Young was 19-20th.

So I guess Sibosado could have been anywhere from 21st forward.

I think that we now have enough tall players and ruck prospects. In the rookie draft i believe we should go for crumbing forward/midfielder type players. Also i think we shouldn't look outside SA as we only took one from our own state in the national draft. So here's my 3:

I don't mind those 3 options as rookies, but certainly that should not be on the basis that they are South Australian. Rookies are less likely to leave, in fact I can't think of one who has. They appreciate the opportunity a lot more and will hopefully work harder if they have what it takes. Also, I think the more interstaters we get into the side the less problems the club will have keeping them here, building an internal club culture that's supportive and empathetic to interstaters. And that's before you even considering how much you are limiting yourself to a shallower talent pool.

well i think use should get christian bock in the rookie draft.
his brother did go as a rookie and nathan was very skinny when they picked him up aswell. And he now is a gun. just develop christian probley and could b a gun aswell and with nathan there at the crows would help a shit load aswell i think. yeh he is very skinny would take about 4 years to play consitent afl games but being 18 i think he is he will b 22 thats when apparentley ruckman peak dont they?. crows dont have to many ruckman. what happens if tippet decides to go to the goldcoast team our griffin decides to go hme our get injured... etc check his highlights package seems to take a good contested mark and is not a bad tap ruckman aswell think crows should take a punt. youtube- christian bock

And as many are aware I up until a few posts ago was driving that bandwagon well and truly up the hill.

And as many are aware I up until a few posts ago was driving that bandwagon well and truly up the hill.

Bock is a giant. And he is a rake. Ive seen him play well, he actually holds his own in packs and can take a solid mark.



Give him time to put on some meat and get his coordination together and you have an Aaron sandilands look a like.


That brimabocombo bloke is just another midfielder in my books.



Oh and lets not forget which club Bocky plays for...the AFL manufacturing company.

Wow, this is a dumber post on reflection after watching the youtube video. Only shows two ball ups against Sturt, one when Jonathon Giles was the ruckman. The one where he's against Brimacombe (A player 14 centermeters shorter than him) the ball hardly goes down anyone's throat

I don't have any particular hate for Bock, but I think anyone who thinks he's a can't miss rookie draft prospect is suffering from a particular type of dellusion.

Also worth noting that on Brimacombe's video it shows him tapping the ball to himself and winning the clearance against Bock.
