I just saw the on the north melbourne website that the match is a fully ticket match cannnot scan your membership to get in have to book a ticket to get in

Due to anticipated high demand, North Melbourne's opening round clash against Essendon has been classified as a fully ticketed match.

The club advises that areas on Level 3 at Etihad Stadium usually classified as general admission will be allocated seating for this game.

General admission members won't be able to access the venue by scanning their membership and will be required to hold an allocated reserved seat for this match.

For more information, contact the club's membership department on 1300 KANGAS (1300 526 427) or emailmembership@nmfc.com.au

Members pre-sale

Monday 24 February, 9am until Wednesday 26 February, 9am

General public on-sale
Wednesday 26 February from 12pm

To purchase an allocated seat, call Ticketmaster on 1300 798 550, visit http://www.ticketmaster.com.auor any Ticketmaster outlet.

North Melbourne general admission members are not required to pay for the entry component of the ticket as this is covered by your membership.

A pain for GA members and general supporters but no doubt this is a great thing for the club's viability and profitability.

not up on all this, wot is all this cat1 business? is this the extra I have to pay ?
The cat1 etc is the different categories of seats you can reserve as illustrated on this seat map. Cat 1 is obviously the best so will cost the most. Category 5 gets you level 3 behind the goals and Category 4 gets you level 3 on the wing (which is where I normally sit as a GA member)

upgraded to a reserved seat this year and mighty glad I did, I feel sorry for supporters that deal with this every week ;)
Did the same thing.

Just to clarify, I won't need to buy a ticket given i have a level 2 reserved seat with my membership?

Nope. I have a Schimma membership and have my seat ready and waiting.

I've just grabbed a seat in the AFL members onsale. It is the first time I have had that panic, after years of going through it for Collngwood tickets, for a North game. If I am not quick I will miss out on a seat. FOR A NORTH GAME. I could get used to it.

I'm still a GA member... was considering upgrading to reserved seats this year but for me, being on the wing is more important than whether i'm on level 3 or level 1 so i would have to go to one of the premium packages which is quite a bit more expensive than a normal GA membership. I was already planning on upgrading to a better seat for this game anyway (as I expected it to be packed and didn't want to get there too early to get a decent GA seat) so I'm not too fussed that it is allocated seating. Only annoying thing is TicketMaster's ridiculous fees for online bookings. They're a disgrace

This is a very handy post. So, if I have a GA membership and want to sit on the wing on level 3, all I have to pay is the $14?

Correct. Plus whatever the ticketmaster booking fee is these days (think it is something like $7 per transaction)

Thats $21 on top of already paying for a membership, that is crazy....sigh, I hate these fully ticketed games.
Agreed. Be thankful that it's a very rare thing for North. As I said before, I don't mind this particular one because I was planning to upgrade to Level 1 Wing anyway but the extra fees are crazy

me too, it sounds like it is full of Big Footy people. I should be around the Locket 50m arc, pretty happy with that, more happy that those * supporting morons will be seated somewhere else (I hope)

The issue with these fully ticketed games though is that because not all these seats are set aside to North members these areas get flooded with opposition supporters on ticketed game days. I ****ing hate the fact that there will be * supporters sitting in what should be an area crammed with North members.

You're kidding me :( I hope that all those extra members are filling up these seats. * supporters are up there with some of the worst.

There is a real big game feeling about this one. Hope we don't disappoint and are actually ready for round 1 for once.

As for the seats, I agree that seats on the wing (preferably level 2) are best, but for the past few years I have had the level 1 pocket reserve seats, and have gone again with those this year. On the plus side, they are cheap enough that allows me to buy 4 of them, so if my wife or daughter don't join us, I can just take extra mates with me. And being right next to players race is good for my son, as he gets the up-close experience. But to watch footy from these seats are far from ideal. Maybe next year I will make the leap to level 2...

Think of it as a great opportunity to get stuck into *them. It just so happens that quite a few of the sympathy thread regulars will be there! :thumbsu:
