I emailed them a few years back after the Adelaide loss and told them to take me off the automatic easy pay option. They’ll get my money when I decide to renew, not automatically.

Petulant? Maybe. But they clearly have metrics they want to hit by certain dates as far as the membership is concerned, so instead of automatically rolling over in October, they might have to wait until late December or early January now.

I don't know how I'll feel come next year. Had a decent chat to the membership dude. He thanked me for being polite etc.

The reaction isn't just to THIS game. It's a reaction to what has been a 15 year rebuild that is seemingly (still) going nowhere. It's decades of frustration, with seemingly no end in sight. It's 150 years of mediocrity.

That's why these losses hurt. It's not just a kneejerk reaction to one bad performance. It's what we've all had to endure, week after week, since 2011.

It's not a 15 year rebuild though

There was a rebuild from 2013-2017ish

It ultimately failed and floundered. Since 2022 we've had a new rebuild on the run.

We've used 15 national draft selections in 3 years (compared to 7 in the previous 3 years). We haven't traded any draft picks for old players. We've used all the 1st round picks.

The fruits of this approach will appear eventually. Or maybe they won't.

But it's pointless talking about 15 year rebuilds when that's incorrect.

Plus we aren't the only team with this issue- Marvel tenants have been failures. 6 grand final appearances from 50 grand finalists in 25 years.

It's not easy

You can not renew your membership by not renewing your membership. Pretty simple.
The email system is automated. Calling up to say "please don't send me any notifications about renewing my membership", when you can just ignore the emails is just pain-in-the-arsery. Bragging about it is worse.

We do all react differently, don't we? Your spelling seems to improve when you're p!ssed, funnily enough.

14 years of going nowhere. Something has to give. Fans not parting ways with thier cash is more likely.

He’s a horrible kick and always has been. So demoralising for us fans, must be soul destroying for his team mates.

I pretty much expect him to miss every time and get surprised occasionally.

The action itself is diabolical.

Get him a kicking coach.

Unbelievable it hasn’t happened yet. To be fair he was kicking them a lot better earlier this season.

I told him that I don't want to be notified by the club next year about renewing my membership because I've hit a point where I've just had enough regarding the club's poor performance. We then chatted about the footy. I finished the conversation with saying I'll contact the club if I feel like renewing. Yes, I wanted to in some way let the club know I wasn't happy.

Anyway... I'll shut up about it. I'm comfortable with what I did, regardless of what Mr High Priest of St Kilda Supporters thinks.

You can look forward to me posting a game day thread at 12.01 on Sunday morning though.

My decision to call the club was actually far more considered than you might imagine. I've been frustrated for a long time. Yesterday I'd decided I'd had enough.

Should I have mentioned it here?... I don't know... But I did... just to voice that that is where my frustration has lead me.

I do absolutely think people make far too many excuses for our failure to execute the basic skills of the game. It's been the same story for over a decade.

You have absolutely every right to complain.
It's not just the ineptitude but the fact we are just hog tied by the AFL so other teams get advantage after advantage. Even the corrupt free dps North get, the bs academy rules, the idiot FS rules, the pathetic draw year in year out.
We are there to make up numbers, we don't get any help like all the fake northern clubs, added to that top 4 teams get FS for free.
Basically I have had enough, I used to have a full membership with a reserved seat and a SC member for 25 years. This year dropped to a 3 game membership and next year, will contact the club and voice the above and won't renew.
The AFL take us for fools, I am slowly getting interested in RL again and watch more of that. Will watch the Saints but 2025 is the year that I think I have had enough of the farce that is the AFL.

To elaborate on this.

Essendon 2000 and 2001- that team was so good, they could've been forced to play home games in Antarctica and still made the grand final. Subsequently rubbish. No finals win since 2004.

St Kilda 2009 and 2010 were the beneficiaries of generous draft concessions that don't exist anymore. In no mans land ever since.

Dogs won their fairytale 2016 flag.

And Dogs in 2021 when covid changed the rules of engagement. No crowds, finals outside of Melbourne. Arguably that shouldn't count for the purposes of this discussion.

North and Carlton were great in the 90s. 3 premierships from 6 grand finals in that decade. Since moving to Marvel, no grand finals in 25 years. And many wooden spoons.

Marvel is a graveyard.

Well at least you have learnt that you need to check with the Priest next time before contacting the club

Macrae was calling for it for about 15 seconds before he got the kick off too. Was in space for ages and the kick came late.

Yep, really poor. Yes it should've been a free but it doesn't change Macrae (who let's be honest has held the midfield together at times this year, you could argue more often than not) being injured as a result.

Owens plays more than half his games indoors. And all grounds these days resemble bowling greens. A new ball is injected into the play after every point is kicked. Plugger and others from that era often played on rain effected mud heaps with a heavy ball. For the first 8-9 years of his career his home deck was Moorabbin. Many will remember what that was like, even after Ian Stewart stopped watering it.

Cannot compare the 80s/90s to 2025. Part timers playing on wind effected goat tracks V full time footballers playing on pristine decks. And for players from some clubs, often indoors. In the circumstances Plugger's accuracy is incredible. He never sprayed them and if he did miss, it was never by much.
