Out: Johnson ( inj) McPharlin (inj) Ballantyne (sus)

In: Silvagni, Morabito, Sylvia

Footy Gods are taking the piss again.

A number of times recently we have gone east missing keys players through injury and suspension and come a cropper. If Richmond have any pride left they will come out steaming on Saturday. This will be a big test for us and I think it is imperative that an experienced campaigner like Sylvia comes in.
i know the (sus) means suspension, but "sus" & Ballas should never be related as the bloke is bona fide & about the hardest player in the league when it comes to putting his body on the line. A true tough guy

Thanks Crippa. I did know he was injured. I was just asking for more information regarding him being out for the year.

The only source of actual information about Luke is Ross's statement on 6pr so far as I'm aware. Whoever said Luke was out of the year appears to have been jumping to conclusions which may or may not eventuate. There are plenty of tweets from Freo fans talking about season over for Luke based on nothing but panic.

It would take a mighty Richmond effort to beat Fremantle. Can't see it happening. We are stuffed. But hopefully the Richmond crowd is in full voice at the MCG. Wish I was there, being a Perthboy I don't get to see Richmond that often but a trip to the MCG is always worth it.

Wait wtf? Have I missed something, I read somewhere that Luke had scans but wow out for the year, how are people jumping to those conclusions?

I listened to Ross. He said Lukes knee is a bit loose from an old injury and goes slack (presumably tendons) sometimes.
His last sentence was that he didn't think Luke would get up this week.
Bummer, our two all aus defenders both injured. If McPharlin doesn't play, then Silvagni obviously comes in and you'd have to say the chances of either Morabito/Sylvia playing are increased heavily.

Ross says on the radio that McPharlin has a recurrence of an old knee issue and will miss a week or two.

Twitter nuffies convert this to season ending injury. Somehow.

Twitter following Freo BF nuffie posts it here and everyone shits their pants.

Yeah, I'm happy that I'm not on twitter.

inb4 twitter says it's so serious he has to have his leg amputated

To be fair Ross did say it doesn't look great and in fact at this point no one knows the severity of it. I don't even know what the worst case scenario is for a medial ligament (and we are only guessing that it is a medial). Scans tomorrow will reveal all.

What's the latest with McPharlin? Will he play? Is it a long term injury or an ongoing niggle. Also what's going on with Ballantyne, apprently his report was sent straight to the tribunal (sent by the Match Review Panel). You wouldn't think he'd get done surely not??

I assume you can read so read the posts directly above yours and the previous page.

Course I can read, don't be like that mate, Yeah I read all of it. I'm asking what's the latest - if there is any?

Even still, to deduce from "we don't know" to season ending is a bit much.

Irrespective of the severity, it's reinforcing the unfortunate reality that McP's at the age where niggles are going to be a common occurrence.

If there was any later news it would already be posted here.

Trust me, now is not the time for opposition posters to be asking silly questions on this board.

Ok then I apologise. Have a good night.

Cheers.

In: Silvagni/Morabito/Sylvia
Out: Johnson (Inj) Mcpharlin (aparrantly Inj) Ballantyne (if Sus)

Silvagni to replace Mcpharlin
Morabito to play the running back like Johnson
Sylvia to kick a bag in Balla's spot

Fingers crossed :/

Nothing to do with not being as good as Johnno. Silvagni's game is nothing like Johnnos.
But I see your point in Silvagni coming into the side,
Ibbo is more of like for like re Johnno and will play his role

Sorry salim I disagree but I don't want to labour the point. I'll bring it up another time when I feel like a longer discussion.

He got pole-axed in a marking contest, and was in the hands of the trainers for a while, but it looked more like he was badly winded than anything.

It certainly didn't seem to hamper him for the rest of the game.

Ta. Just watching now, not sure if he hurt his knee in that hit but could have been any innocuous thing. Had his knee in a brace waiting for his scan this morning. Didn't look too concerned. Barich was circling outside like a hyena.

Out: Johnson,Ballas(if suspended) and Mayne (if rested
In: Silvagni, Sylvia(IF), Taberner (IF)

I think Silvagni provides the best chance at continuity. It would be nice to get some games into youngsters but with Clarke, Neale, Sheriden and Sutcliffe playing I think we have that side of things covered for now although I would be keen on giving tabs some more game time. If Ballas or Mayne don't play it may be time to build some fitness in Sylvia or Mora with an eye on September.

Taberner is way off AFL ready . He needs to spend more time with a serious forward coach before he will get another AFL game .

The reason why I believe this is as follows
1 . He goes hard on the lead and once he has space on his opponent he doesn't settle himself and ease in the a marking position (going too hard at the ball )
2. He grabs at the ball when going for the mark (doesn't soften the hands )
3. His arms are straight out in front of him when the ball arrives ( doesn't bent the elbows to absort the shock of the ball arriving .
Until he gets those thing right he will keep dropping marks instead of holding them 9 times out of 10 .
During the East Fremantle game I was talking to one of the Peel officials and old time footballer and he said exactly the same things and he went on with more "Tabernern would struggle to hold any overhead mark due to the arms not being bent and when the ball is coming to him he doesn't let the ball ease into his hands .Just like a good slips catcher you have to let the ball come to you not snatch at it".
Fyfe , Pavlich and Mcpharlin should take him under their wings and give the kid some lessons .

The match report was Johnsons Knee hurt in sling tackle ,Maynes Knee bruised and blood vessel burst in knee clash ," channel 7 news " Basil brush " Elvis recurrence of old knee injury hence scam to see how much damage" .

It's ok, there's a kid in Auskick who will replace him shortly.

Yeah, I'm happy that I'm not on twitter.

Calm down ya twit.

There is one mention on there of it being 8-10, that persons source apparently a former docker.

It's quite a luxury having a back up KPD like SNOS waiting in the wings for times like this. Some of the bottom 8 teams don't even have key defenders of his quality in their starting line up.

The other silver lining of injuries like these is that if he gets a decent amount of games he's more likely to hang around for another contract.
