I guess in your world nobody breaks records.JW
All the wise men on here shaking their heads but nobody can say why not.
He doesn’t have to be a Cripps clone.
He’s bigger, probably a better mark and probably a longer kick. Doesn’t have the hardness and the tank but if he was prepared to bust his arse who knows.
We have a lot of big blokes but no big midfielders, surely all you short sighted BFers can see it’s an outside the box conversation worth having!
This appears to be a severe case of nuttiness.

They had 10 players with more than 2 tackles, we had 5.

That’s a testament to the work ethic of some of our players, playing a full match in the wet and not laying a tackle in a game like that is damning - any or all of hunt, Duggan, Maric, Kelly back to the wafl to work on the defensive side of your game.

Positivity all coming from our youth, hedwards, Ginbey, dewar, Harley, McCarthy all solid.

Like the way Bo took the game on at times more of a watch this space and hope he continues to develop.

McCarthy likely to supersede Maric until he learns to defend. A longer term backline of:

Ginbey Hedwards ?
McCarthy Archer Hough

Is starting to look like a solid proposition.

Overall the team needs more players that work harder on the defensive side of the ball and more mental application to start doing things like pinning arms in tackles, someone being front and centre at contests, shepherding for team mates, taking appropriate level of care with disposal few too many players happy just having a run and collecting their match day payment at the moment that need to be superseded with more young talent.

No offence to the the McGovern family, but Mitch really is the grub of the family.

Lacks the class and skills of Jeremy and will always live in the shadow of his greatness.
Mitch never had Simmo publicly body shame him to put him on the path of realising his true potential.

Oh boy the Bo vs McGovern no free/free is AFL umpiring summed up in a nutshell.

Surely that's been picked up on any one of the 30 footy shows, podcasts, radio segments, peep-shows, in-house, outhouse, dog house etc? Right guys, at least one?
Hopefully Ray the Razor makes a comment on AFL 360 tonight, but i very much doubt it.
I wonder why no replay was shown of Harley's shot on goal that was called a point after a review.
They normally show the replay over and over again.

Cornelius, you have made a lot of very valid points about the lack of defensive skills in our game.
Drafting flashy half forward flankers with no defence will only add to that problem.
Isn't the defensive stuff part of an assistant coaches role to teach the players.
Our lot knew how to shrug and play for free kicks and not to lay tackles.
Mini should bring in his own assistants at the end of the season. Get rid of Shuey, Schofield, Mello and Webster.

Game ended on a positive note with that Jack Williams goal which included Ginbey, Allan, Reid and Dewar all linking up from half back through the middle.

Sick of hearing this “you need to keep some senior players around the youth”. What exactly did Hunt and Kelly add on the weekend to benefit the youngsters? Need to move on from those players and I can’t for the life of me believe we gave Kelly a two year deal.

If Mini really has the minerals that he’s seemingly shown earlier in the year then Kelly should be spending a good 4 weeks in the WAFL averaging 25 touches minimum before getting back into the senior side.

That one killed me. I had Harley for a goal in my multi and was celebrating for a minute before it got overruled.

The big question is. Are any of our assistants capable of teaching those defensive skills?
Going by our results the answer is obviously No.

I sit at the opposite end of the ground and it wasn't clear from where i sat.
Like i said they normally show it over and over again.

It only needed the one reply and you could see it hit Saad's fingers, was pretty obvious when they showed it.

Do you think forcing the whole team to have a week off is not forcing players to have a week off?
So you cant see a problem being forced to rest your star mid fielder or Ruck etc in a game playing for premiership points?
When a team has a bye, they don't stand a chance of losing points.

Lets take your suggestion of every 10 games.? It means all of your players need 2 weeks a season on the sideline unless they are forced to miss due to injury/suspension. A team may rely heavily on a certain player (think Gawn at Melbourne for example) and the start of their season is up and down and they have a tough run for their first 10 games. So they rest that player in round 11 as they cant afford to risk dropping a game. They are then in a logjam of 4 teams competing for the last spot in the finals towards the end of the season and their last 3 games are all against those teams- effectively 8 point games. Problem is, their star has to sit out one of those games despite the fact that he is fit, in the form of his life and is in a 3 way battle for the Brownlow. He misses round 21, the team loses by a few points and finish 9th and he misses winning the Brownlow by a solitary vote.

That scenario doesn't happen with team byes. Teams can't drop premiership points by being forced to rest players who are fit and available.

Positives... Harry Edwards... mate you've made me eat my words and are going great guns!
McCarthy... Brilliant
Dewar(second half only)
Billiams
Sometimes Baker sometimes Graham sometimes Harley and hewey
Hall cameo

Negatives... Allen, Ryan, Hunt, Duggan,Maric, Kelly, Flynn, Cripps(although he tried), jilliams , Ginbey, Brock (soo bad) , sometimes Harley sometimes hewey
Ginbey?
Thought he had another very solid outing and kept Curnow quiet until he was forced out of the game. Seems an odd one to throw in the negatives.

How good are seniors though

Our senior players should be ****ing embarrassed that a guy from the ammos and then a state league, came in and got more possessions, showed more intent and hit more targets in the wet than most of them combined. Shows how bad our senior players are. ****ing disgrace really.
Cole in particular.

Can't comment on the game as I bailed at quarter time. Shame I didn't see McArthurs performance but nor did I stay on and disgrace myself myself with putrid comments ive made in years past.

Anywho. Trajectory isn't linear. There will be a year when it all clicks and we'll shoot up very quickly and we're all left wondering: where did that come from?

Trying my best not to throw anyone hard under the bus.

The extension of Tim Kelly makes no sense. What is he really offering? Scinetellating games, leadership, standards? Or do we have to fill our quota of the cap and he will do?

And it's not just Kelly in isolation. It's by and large the whole senior group. Could excuse Ryan to a degree, has had a fair few games this year.

Duggan, cole, hunt... Oscar had one great game 2 weeks ago and putrid in every other game. Cripps, may as well not extend and start with new blood and get on with it.

Keep recruiting the youf and get on with it.

And dear lord does simmo $hit me commentating on our games. "You created the lack of standards and now you get to comment on them?". Yeah nah.
