Reckon we will see one of the kids this week. Probably Grey, then Weller, then Blakely, then Langdon.
The More I think about it, the more obvious it is. Grey has to debut this week. He is going to eventually replace Paul Duffield. So Clancee out, Grey in. Weller and Langdon to debut in our next home game vs the demons.

I know the discussion of the value of Suban and De Boer is an instant source of rage for some on here, so I'll try and keep it polite and say that my view on the value of Suban and De Boer is based on the fact I think that for a significant period of game time they are instructed to not go for the football, but rather help a teammate to win the footy at clearances and at times block for a leading player in open play. My view on modern football is that there are more players setting screens (like basketball) to get star players free. Suban and De Boer are IMO following the role outlined by the coaching pannel and that is why they keep being selected. Fill free to disagree.

What's your view on players who constantly get sub 15 possessions, turn the ball over, have poor and over rated skills, give away stupid free kicks, rarely score and can't kick over a jam tin?

I think this week is the week someone will get a shot. But they will have one shot only.

They must do a Heeney and make an immediate impact

But I think this week we will get our look at someone for Fyfe

If Suban puts in performances like he did on the weekend, I will be happy for him to stay in the side.

Agreed, he was a man possessed on sat. Easily in our best.

Not big on resting too much, but this is a game we could look at resting Sandi. Griffin & Clarke should monster Downie & Lobb.

No chance Fyfe will rest & I'd prefer Dawson playing along side Pearce & McPharlin then subbing Macca early rather than flat out resting.
GWS are a good side, they'll challenge us.

Yes. We dont want to pencil this one in as a win and take it a bit easy!
I would like to see a full side...no resting players! Win it by half time, then take the foot off....
Dawson should come back in....needs some AFL games leading up to the finals. MDB out for me...A tall for a short, but its still works. MDB out. Dawson to CHB, Alex to flank. D. Pearce the sub...Unless Clancee is out injured, then same theory with MDB sub :)

We're at our best with 3 tall backs IMO. Dawson & Macca 1 on 1 then you got Johnson (usually) 3rd tall & Ibbo spare man. Pearce can play the 3rd tall until Johnson returns.

Total Career Games played by players born in 1994 or later (top 8 sides):

Fremantle: 12
Hawthorn: 47
Sydney: 42
West Coast: 50
Richmond: 108
Western Bulldogs: 200+
Adelaide: 85
North Melbourne: 58
Change the criteria by 8 days and correct your Hawthorn stats to ignore games played for GWS and Freo have more than the Hawks. Manipulation of stats to push an agenda is very easy.

Yep, goes to show how you lie with statistics when you want to.

Taking Fremantle and Hawthorn, for example; the distinction between '93 and '94 birthdates is arbitary, well not really, it doesn't suit ydraw's agenda.

Freo has 5 players born in '93 who have played 149 games.
Hawks have only 2 born in '93 with a total of 67 games.

Fremantle have 12 players born in 1994 or later, 5 of those are rookies. Only 3 of those 7 main listers; Gray, Apeness and A. Pearce are no longer teenagers. it might be reasonable to expect some of these to have a chance to play in their first two years, but all three have had injury interruptions. Gray finished the season early last year with a bad back, Pearce was injured last year and this preseason, and Apeness has a PCL.
Hawthorn have 16 players born in 1994 or later, 5 of those being rookies. 7 of those 11 main listers are no longer teenagers; Willsmore, Hartung, Sicily, Brand, O'Brien, Anderson and O'Rourke. Only Billy Hartung has established himself for Hawthorn. Hawthorn don' play youf!

I cant be stuffed going through the other teams. Suffice to say, that ydraw has chosen the stats that suit his argument the best without looking at the lists and using his brain. Same ol' same ol'.

Faye need rest if not injuries get worse.

It's not that arbitrary: players born in 1993 are ineligible for the Rising Star, thereby older than the accepted AFL definition of 'youth'.

Im hoping you see the irony in your post.
What irony?

I'm not going to get into a Sorites paradox discussion about where to draw the line. The AFL draws the line at 'youth' being 21 and under. People saying that you should include players born in 1993, well why not 1992? Or 1991? I don't consider anyone under the age of 25 as 'old' but in the AFL context, 25 is middle aged.

One of the older players will get a rest this weekend.
I can see Clark in for Sandiland.
If we win all our games or even drop one and Weagles lose to the Hawks, we will have the luxury of Resting Pav and Mundy in round 23 against Port and have them ready for the finals Campaign. To me the only way to rest Fyfe is by sending him for big parts of some games to the forward line.Games against Melbourne and St Kilda maybe.

In: Dawson, Weller
Out: Taberner, De Boer

A.Pearce/MacPharlin rotate forwards in place of Tabs.
Weller comes in as the sub.

I think Macca forward isn't a terrible idea (awaiting an avalanche of abuse :p), but he needs a rest this week.
When Johnno and Dawson are back in the side we could play A.Pearce, MJ, Dawson as the three defensive talls and throw Luke up as the second tall forward.
Tabs will be a reasonable player, but still needs a couple more years to develop and rarely sticks a mark atm. The opposition don't respect him ether and with good reason.

Alex would serve us better as the third tall defender, rather than the second tall fwd

Luke is a mature body and we know he can take a contested mark. He's our best defender, but we're so depleted in the forward line that we have to play Tabs out of necessity.

Playing GWS this week I would like to see Dawson and Pearce play in the two key positions and have Mcpharlin as that 3rd tall to drift across and take the intercept marks. Its not resting him but it would be easier on the body rather than having to chase a big guy around all day. And if we have a spare player use him as the spare. I just think its a good way to manage him this late in the season and at the same time give Pearce more responsibility.

You are using a arbitrary point established the AFL to defend an arbitrary point established by the OP. There is no reason to select that point other than to support the position. While arbitrary points are required in objective matters like tules for subjective matters arbitrary points are pointless!

Suban will have his annual awesome game against GWS so he'll probs kick 2-3 goals and have 20 disposals. Not that I see Ross dropping him after a good game anyway.

Hopefully Weller/Blakely gets a game finally. Would think Clancee will be out with injury.
