I thought Haywood, Florent and Newman were great tonight. Fox did some good things aswell.

Buddy is buddy but that was a fantastic start in the last quarter.

Reid is going to be soo good this year. Think he finally has the confidence he's been lacking.

I suspect Kennedy will be out with a shoulder and back injury soon from carrying the midfield. At least Hewett helped out abit.

Second week in a row we had one less rotation for the whole second half. No wonder half of them were buggered.

Seriously I'd rather Hanners and Parker not play if they are injured. Clearly it's affecting them, usually you don't see them both play two really bad games in a row.

Mills is getting abit too smug for my liking. Settle down mate it's your second year, you ain't a superstar yet.

Aliir improved as the game went on but seriously he needs to pick his spots and not feel the need to play on every time he marks the ball.

Was a fan of Cunningham. He can go back to the NEAFL. No improvement is going to come from him and he's not helping the team at the moment.

Marsh was meh.

Surely Towers can't get back into this side every again?

25-2 lead. Nek minnut 20 - 6 freekicks against. End up 27pts down or something. Umps take foot off pedal. Free kicks 5-4 against (so normal rate of frees) we gain momemtum and claw back a 4 pt lead.

It's not the dogs fault though mate. They are playing to the interpretation afforded to them by second rate, part time, inefficient, unprofessional umpires.

The issue is with consistent application & interpretation of the rules. Somehow it feels like we are playing unser different rules contest to contest.

Looking at the pure stats it's clear there is a trend. So either the umpires are actually corrupt (be it "from higher up" or elsewhere) or, the likely scenario, the dogs know what interpretations to exploit against us &/or specific players.

Not the dogs fault if they are deemed to be following the rules.

The umpires & AFL though. That is a different story completely.

Yeah, I'm with you on this. Basically, I think the Dogs, like the Hawks before them, have evolved a playing style that milks the maximum amount of free kicks. Full credit to them in a way, but it's f***en frustrating when you just want to see rules applied consistently.

End umpire rant. Many positives to take from tonight's game. I feel a whole lot better than I thought I was going to feel.

Also playing youngsters (e.g Florent, Hayward) is better than player vanilla limited 'experienced' guys Cunningham, Towers etc. because they can't give much less but have the potential to give us much more.

Seeing AJ have a successful comeback about the only thing that will top all that.

Reid was great, had a feeling he could turn things around this yr with less expectations/pressure after having a yr out.

some sensenstional kicks by newman. Recall him threading eye of he needle a few times in a nab game last yr...if he can show consistency, be awesome addition.

Great effort overall by the boys, but yep reality is we are 0-2. Effort/performance tonight won't automatically translate to nxt wk, so need to ensure we bring it again.

Hewett's first half was, I thought, immense, and a clsss above any of our players out there.

And then he vanished, as you say. I expect it from Florent. Hewett must do better at this stage of his career (I know he was a very young draftee.

I was expecting us to lose that game, but in a more embarrassing fashion than we did, so in that sense it's a win. We were right in it for most of it.

Our third quarter was abysmal, though, from basically everyone on the park.
