Happy Kelly was dropped as he has been poor. BUT i don't like his manager being the one to announce it a day before selections....Cant say I've seen that happen before.

He's out of contract and would be keen for a renewal. Getting dropped is pretty disastrous from a financial point of view. His manager wants to send a signal that his client is still competitive and motivated, so that if West Coast lowball him, only offer a single year, or even more drastic, delist him, it will look like the Eagles are the bad guys.

If you're almost 31, out of contract and getting dropped from the worst team in the league, your career is on a knife edge.

Having a go at Hurn for finishing top 5 that year is pretty low. He was second the year before and it was his 11th top 10 finish.

If that’s what you’ve got to stoop to to try to rewrite history, good luck to you.

If you choose to interpret my post as having a go at Shannon Hurn thats up to you. Shannon 'Bunga' Hurn is and always will be a WCE legend and premiership captain.

Good luck to you also sir.

A midfield of under 20s and a patchwork ruckman

v 3 of the top 10 clearance mids for Carl (TDK, Cripps, Hewett)

As I said before Carlton, despite losing have been in all games so it's gonna be a big task

People saying "ah if we're within a few goals at half time we'll piss it in" are prob in for a shock

Hope we just crack in and have a go, all you can ask, which is what most young guys have had this year
Yep, Carlton have had close losses in a couple of big games, still a finals team.
Hard to see a win here, unless some miracle is performed?

The reason for the variables that allow the goal posts to be moved today has been outlined due to doctor’s orders. My club has been provided with a medical certificate. I have been diagnosed with suffering from a work-related injury and as a result I am on sick leave until further notice. I will not go into any details as to my medical condition as I wish to keep that strictly private. I am doing my best to work with the club and my doctors so I can recover from my injury. I intend to return back to training as soon as I am fit and able.

Where did you get this copy of Elijah Hewitts sick certificate?

Wouldn’t the players who were selected or not being flying out today in either direction. Ryan, Cripps and/or Brockman into SA.

Likewise the non selected into WA for the WAFL game tomorrow? Long? HEdwards? JWill? Ect

Isn't his manager a mate of his, or a real estate agent masquerading as a player agent? Seem to recall some criticism of how he initially handled Kelly's first attempt to exit Geelong, and naivety from lack of experience.

Well, this thread is an eye-opener. I can only see about half the posts, because apparently everyone on my ignore list has congregated here, presumably to gloat at Tim Kelly’s demise.

I don’t mind the decision to drop him, but surely we need him back in the team as soon as he gets some confidence back.
Sounds like you have your fingers in your ears going, "lalalalala, I'm not listening to anyone I disagree with".

Here's the problem with TK:

Over the last few years, he has been one of our best players. Maybe the best. But the problem is his consistency. He'll be dynamite one game and poll votes, but next game he is rubbish. So it's not like he's hovering between best Eagles player and 8th best Eagles player, he's hovering between top 3 and bottom 3. That's a real problem when you're trying to develop youth and build a side.

Would have been good to see a full season or two of NicNat, Yeo, Shuey, Kelly and Sheed all playing together uninjured.
Did we even get to see 1 game?

Oh right, Vs Carlton changes thread. My bad.

So let me explain it to you.

Shannon Hurn was injured in 2023 and played 13 games.

Someone who played 13 games in an AFL club finished top 5.

That really doesn't need anymore explanation does it?

Harry Edwards really needs to come back in (and it was a baffling choice to drop him)

However promising Brock is, it was not cool to leave him on Hogan for four quarters in front of a dominant midfield, and it would he borderline malpractice to do that to him again with Curnow.

Playing your first game is hard enough to begin with without being stuck in a visible hopeless position with no chance of a chop out. You can be a promising, talented young player but getting 9 goals kicked on you is a genuinely traumatic experience, and getting that done to him two weeks running is a pretty good way to damage his mentality before he's even had a chance to find his feet.

Are you talking to yourself cause you haven't quoted anyone...

Putting it out to the board, mate. Collating opinions on if it's one, a couple or several times one can keep changing the parameters and variables of their requirements before they admit that they're wrong.

Did you think I was directing it at you?
