Autopsy Round 5, 2025: Hawks refuse to join Gather Round

I find it really strange, I've never seen anything like it in sports.

I think people misconstrued the selfies and goal celebrations last year for disrespecting the opposition or something.

It's all just very odd.

I'm glad we finally get them in Tassie in R19.
Go and have a look at the main board autopsy thread on our game last night. There's your answer. You try to correct the record and nobody wants a bar of it there all consumed with head****ery critical thinking has gone out the window.

Ken has told them to conjure up their biggest baddest feelings about us. Draw long bows, i don't care just manufacture hatred

So what if it’s manufactured? Playing the same way, process-driven every week can get mentally draining. A fresh theme and a bit of rage this week might’ve actually been invigorating.

I thought it was the opposite last night - we all went to the ball and nobody was on the outside ready to defend or receive.

Bees to the honey pot stuff.

It was like we lost trust in each other or the absence of Day everyone thought they had to go in to win the hard stuff.
Very perceptive. :thumbsu:

Apologies for the negativity but I really dunno if I've seen enough really good footy from us over the first 5 weeks to tell me we're a top 4 team. Now there's plenty of time left in the year, and we will hopefully hit our straps but we haven't dominated games like we did last year at all. Teams have really gone to work on us and Mitchell will need to figure it out and adapt.

Your assuming that we are using the same gameplan from last year.

The first half midfield set seemed a lot like the game plan we used in the first 5 rounds from last year.

Standing around flat-footed, getting beaten in one-on-one contest and ground ball gets around the ball is our game plan? When we won the ball, just kicking it straight, no angles, and straight to two opposition players? That's not our gameplan.

We couldn’t hit a straight pass let alone trying to dissect any angles available. Sicily and Battle biggest culprits.

Yes but I responded to your post regarding gameplans, what does this post have to do with gameplan right now?

Especially in the first quarter. I counted 3 bad kicks into our forward line that got picked off

Agenda setters tonight Kane and Riewoldt did a good job picking apart our lax defensive pressure… I spotted one at the time but missed the others they mentioned. Really lazy and not switched on…

Bring your mouthguards

Gary Lyon ripped Sicily a new one.

All these media commentators are talking about how we have been exposed by man on man play and that's all you need to do to stop our ball movement. Adelaide oval is one of the narrowest grounds in the comp, like no shit we couldn't use the width to switch, there isn't any.

I don’t get the hatred towards Rioli’s post. We hate teams for much less… and we also tend to celebrate it if our players come out with some passion like that. And look, given some of our clubs history, I’m not surprised we have drawn the ire of an indigenous player.
100% this.
I think it makes a lot of sense for a Rioli to have this kind of attitude towards us- him caveating his post with the hatred not being towards the players I think made the post even more acceptable.

On surface level it’s right tho, when we play our worst our ability to create run is taken away. It simply looked like we didn’t work hard enough to create separation, this is the comp now, it your off by 5% your back to the pack, if your off by 10% your gonna lose and beyond that well your cooked

Totally disagree with you!

The AFL should be seeking a please explain from Willie.

This is not on….

Content for him to be heard via the right channels, no room for vigilantes.
Im not sure I’m saying that, from a corporate afl level, it’s ok either (note, it was deleted so he must have had a change of heart about how he was making his point).

My point is more, as supporters, I think it’s fine to have opposition players hate us, the way we love it when Sammy does the ‘jab’ to the bombers players, or when sic called Hinkley a shit campaigner. Etc. we cant/shouldnt be too precious about rioli hating the club.

Whether the afl asks for a please explain from rioli, that’s a different point and once I couldn’t really give a **** about to be honest.

Our worst 4 games of the last 20 odd have been at Adelaide Oval and that cow paddock down the highway. Both very narrow grounds.

Thank god our style is built for the G.

Just a quick calculation, there is 13% more width at the MCG than Adelaide Oval. I think we need to get the old line markers out at Bunjil Bagora next time we play in SA

The difference between Sammy and the Jab and Riolis post is far more complicated.

The AFL try to broker peace and educate on a complex world wide topic. So it takes every AFL professional to make the same commitment.

It good see Port will offer Rioli support and acknowledges social media was not the right place for his grievances.

Really sad to read Willie was racially abused in response to his post.

I still feel when you ask for forgiveness for your mistakes, you should be able to give that forgiveness as well to others for there mistakes.

Anyway …. Done and dusted until we next meet Port.
