Port Adelaide finally got off the mark for season 2022 with a win over a hapless West Coast at home, and now they'll head up to Cairns to take on the red hot Saints! Port Adelaide have played football in Darwin, Alice Springs, Ballarat, Hobart, Launceston, Canberra, and even China! But this we'll be the first time we ever play in Cairns.

Bar a hiccup against Collingwood in Round 1, St Kilda have been one of this years biggest improvers and they'll no doubt look to continue their good form. Could we come up against all 3 ex-Port players Paddy Ryder, Dougal Howard and Jarrod Lienert?

Regardless of what happens, I'll be heading up there to sink some cans in Cairns. Cheers :beercheers:

Sam Hayes has a scarily difficult task ahead. Paddy Ryder & Rowan Marshall have an insane record when playing in the same team.

Love Hayes & his work, but he's got a massive challenge for a 3 game ruck man. Might end up losing the game in this department as a result.

Max King to somehow bag 10 even in awful Cairns conditions.

Prediction: St Kilda by 15 goals, press conference is called on Monday morning...

press conference "we need to work harderer for longerer........we are mathematically a chance for the finals"

if we can't beat the saints, we are wasting our time hoping for finals

2022 is about getting ourselves right for 2023...........interviewing coaches now so they can recruit their own assistants and support staff over the coming months, investigating trades and recruiting targets, getting games into our youth and farewell games for club champions.

I'm pretty sure Marshall got injured this week.

Port by 5pts after a late goal by Simple Todd
Kinkley to windmill his chub in the box.
Kornes to break the AFL record for the number of times “Where are the HinkleyHaters™ now?” is asked.
Koch to activate the smug button.
Doctor Feel forgets to ask if we’ve lost yet in the GD thread.

I agree with others that their dominance in ruck will probably be the difference. We will need to win the territory game from clearances to have any hope in the conditions. So getting pumped in the ruck, and losing the clearances will likely mean slow ball movement in greasy conditions, and a clogged F50 we struggle to score in.

We have to win the next 3 games on the trot to give us any chance of salvaging anything this year IMO. A loss effectively condemns our season completely, and the Hinkley succession planning will surely be well under way.

After the game I think we'll be planning for 2023. Saints by 16.

If it's conditions like that and we roll in trying to play dry weather footy surely it's a lightbulb moment for even the dimmest bulbs at HQ.

Hayes is 6 inches taller than Ryder so he should do ok in the actual ruck contests

The early forecast is for morning showers, with a top of 29C.
