Sensible changes really, hopefully Charlie is good to go.

Shame Faz will miss the marvel surface.

Its been said many times but Ill say it again.

Thank god for Warren Tredrea.

Part of our problem is we have traded draft picks away and what is more we do not have a strong draft hand over the next couple of years. In three years time the Tasmanian side will enter with Draft concessions so our chances of building a list via the Draft will be difficult. We will need to get things right.

In fact over the past three drafts we have only taken four players inside of pick 50 across each the three drafts. In comparison a team like Adelaide has taken 10 players in the top 50 and 4 of those were first round picks. Our trading has probably been better than Adelaide's but because of their stronger hands in recent Drafts they will probably have an edge in young talent.

North Melbourne have had 11 top picks in the top 50 across 3 Drafts and 4 of those have been top 3 picks one of which was JHF. To cap it off North will have picks 1 and 8 in the 2023 Draft. Hard to say what will happen but now that Clarkson is at the helm but I don't think those picks will be wasted.

Port's first pick in the 2023 draft is pick 35. We should not be too surprised that sides like Adelaide, Carlton and St Kilda have passed us. I do not put our minimal draft hand up as the only reason that others have passed us by but the bottom line is our trading has come at a cost.
In recent years our List management team have been superb and have shown a propensity for trading back into the draft.

As usual a key defender goes out and gets replaced by a flanker.

* off already Hinkley.

He just doesn’t give a single * about structure

It’s why he will never achieve s**t as a coach and we’ve have done nothing but tread water for the decade he’s been here.
You paid any attention at all to how Saints have played all year and their selected side this week? Or you just gonna have a cry for the sake of it? It’s the perfect decision.

They have tall forwards of Cordy and Membrey and then a whole bunch of smalls. They care more about locking it in and preventing run and dash from the other team, instead of proper tall forward structure.

Their HFF line is Phillipou, Brad Hill at CHF and Jack Higgins lol.

Agreed generally, but specifically dont SK play a smaller forward line in absence of King?

Burton will play this game forward. Saints have a very small forward line and honestly with how tall their forward line is we could have dropped Teakle. Finlayson & Dixon 50/50 ruck fwd with any one of them and Burton forward at all time. Thats what i wouldve done, Teakle offers us nothing.

Good side on paper.
Probably the best available at the moment. Would have liked to have seen Pasini but he is still coming back from the knee and Clurey was in terrible form last ween in the SANFL. And given the Saint's don't have an overly tall forward line but rather rely on crafty and quick smalls (Hill, Higgins etc), I actually think it is sensible selection.

Dixon, Lord and Finlayson will be 3 tall forwards for a back line where the only real height is Howard - screams team defence from the Saints and "bomb it to Dixon" for Port....

Concerned about the ruck though - Teakle will need to play well and give first use out of the middle, before the Saints can flood back.

Playing with Teakle and playing with Lycett probably brings a similar approach for our mids. They have to be prepared to lose the tap and immediately be on the defensive.
What Teakle needs to bring is some competitiveness around the ground, which for some reason is a part of Lycett's game that completely evaporated.

Hopefully we are smart enough to separate Dixon and Lord and kick to whichever one doesn't have Dougal.

Oh no, how will we handle the saints incredibly tall forward line of... Cordy and Membrey?

Yeah nah, if there's any week to go short it's this one.

I believe the new tactic will be "bomb it to My Lord Jeremy Dixon of the Concrete Hands...." That way they can have 18 Saint defender hanging off them all at once about 30mtrs out but get repeat forward 50 entries.

Haven't seen Teakle play since his debut last year.

Any chance he could be used as a break glass defender, if so where do we see him compared to a Frampton?

Teakle will be primarily rucking but maybe tried down back in defence to see how he goes?
He's been playing as a key defender in the SANFL this season.
IMO playing him as a key defender during certain moments in the game against a top team in good form will give us an idea if he has the potential to become a defender.
Its a big game for Teakle to show us if he can take it to the top teams in ruck/defender role
