You all have the negatives covered...

+
JJ kept running and trying to create late into the game
BBW
Allen keeps up his run of multiple goals - he's fifth on the Coleman without having a break-out game
No injuries(touch wood)!

Positives: Exxon unexpectedly kicking goals before a rib injury.
Kelly not getting to 30 possessions as that was the single worst high disposal game I think i've ever seen. Now leading the league in direct turnovers and clangers. I'm honestly astonished more turnovers and clangers weren't put to his name. At least he tackled. 37% disposal efficiency. From his first 9 kicks one was an effective disposal.....
Oscar managing somehow to keep the multiple goal each week streak alive. Was very disappointed that he didn't go hard enough at a couple of pack marks, as though worried about hurting the other player which cost him actually marking the ball. Twice at least in the first half.
SPS attack on the man and ball before getting a bad corkie
Hurns courage. * knows how he got up after that mark. Landed on the hardest part of the ground with the relaid turf
Petch did some positive things
Witherden with some courage. Really difficult finding positives

Negatives:
Didn't get a text back about Bazzo and his HIA
Darling still looking like he's carrying the back injury
Me losing my faith that Foley is a shot at making the grade
Now have the nickname by a clubs head recruiter (you should all be able to work out whom) and will be hard to shake. Second to the ball Ginbey.
Everything else hugely worse than the above apart from just how resoundingly bad Rotham is.

Special mention for just how resoundingly beaten we were. Absolutely destroyed on turnover and spread. Carlton had 29 marks inside 50. We had 34 inside 50's total. If we finish the season with 2 wins we absolutely deserve at least the same priority pick package that North got. We really should have lost by more.

The team as a whole was gassed out after two good efforts but having to travel twice which cooked the team. The team did show some effort at times but it was only sparingly as they didn't have the energy after being spent.

Negatives -

  • Team kept getting killed on the turnover.
  • Too many WAFL standard players who aren't up to it. Mainly due to injury.
  • Clark, West, XON and Foley are unfortunately WAFL standard players.
  • Rotham got badly exposed against Curnow. Even though they're nearly the same height Curnow jumps a lot higher than Rotham and has better smarts.
  • Just cannot seem to stop momentum.
  • Coach killing skill errors but that's what happens if the team has mostly WAFL level players.
  • SPS injury.
  • Darling's likely injured and is forced to play since we hardly have anyone. Just didn't bring the ball to ground as much. His injury must of affected his set shots.
  • Foley just seems too vanilla of a player who's not particularly good at anything.
  • Lack of class is showing but that's what happens if too many WAFL standard players are playing.

Meh =

= Barrass did as much as he can when the team started getting overwhelmed. Just too slow for Curnow imo. He operates best if the club is playing two other accountable KPDs such Bazzo or H.Edwards as they both take a KPF and Barrass can roam freely like he did in 2022 when those two are playing once Gov went down then.
= Culley quiet than last week. Needs to have stints in the middle similar to how Jordan De Goey did.
= Williams tried and was ok around the ground but got beaten by a C grade ruck in the hitouts and when he didn't compete to halve them, they just waltzed it out with ease.
= Ginbey pretty quiet but that's fair enough since they can't overuse him in the middle being a first year player (see Rowell).
= L.Edwards was decent.
= Gaff still worked hard and tried.
= Waterman was quiet and should've converted his shot. Team as a whole didn't provide enough supply and when they did it lacked class.
= XON kicked two nice goals and seemed ok in the middle.
= Kelly although was good at times, turned the ball over a bit too much.

Positives +

  • Hunt continues to impress with his run and effort.
  • SPS tried and kept on pressuring. Shame he went off with a corkie but watch the injury turn into a hammy and get ready for a certain poster's meltdown.
  • Petch looked better on ball. He can use his burst at the contest.
  • Hurn was solid down back.
  • Allen still got his multiple goals in a team lacking supply and class.
  • Jones still provided rebound when ball movement became stale as the team started to tire out.
  • Duggan was mostly good with his ball use.
  • Bazzo showed more than Rotham as a KPD and was pretty good. Would like to see him play a full game since our backline is too undersized especially if Gov returns.
  • Witherden was good with his defensive work and is starting to be more creative as the season goes on.
  • Some effort was pretty good but ran out of gas.
  • Still in contention of Harley Reid.

Final thoughts.

Back to back travelling has killed the team's energy even though they showed decent effort. In the past two games the club has done well in the second term especially against Geelong when a 100 point loss was expected but no, the team fought hard. The same thing could be said of the Port Adelaide game. After showing that much effort and returning from Adelaide, the team was physically and mentally drained, as a result Carlton was able to easily get free ball movement and the team has no energy to stop it. Not helped by injuries especially to H.Edwards who would've been a better matchup against Curnow.

Their forwards have a field day being able to mark uncontested whereas our forwards have to contend against multiple Carlton defenders. Whenever we lock it in and it gets out, they score. They do the same and it gets stuck with our forwards getting sucked into the contest just like in 2022.

Those injuries are a blessing in disguise as the club can see who's up to it and who's no up to it. Unfortunately players such as West, Clark, XON and Foley are not up to it. You may even add Petch in there if his inconsistencies shows. Come draft day we can delist those guys and replace them with recruits who have a higher ceiling. Devon Robertson would be an upgrade on XON and those future draftees will hopefully have a higher ceiling than those aforementioned names.

I'm not surprised if more 100 point trashing are to come especially if the team gasses out. Don't expect H.Reid to be the saviour especially if he becomes a Jack Watts type player or better yet, accept a godfather offer from a team who wants him however it's still wise to draft him too especially is he lives up to the hype.

Yes we can. This is the perfect result. Get a generational talent and simply can't be accused of tanking for it, like Hawthorn. We wouldn't be nearly as bad if we had a full squad to pick from, so we'd be no chance.

It'll also make list decisions far easier at the end of the year on who to let go.
Shouldn’t be waiting until years end.

Few of the old boys should retire (Shuey, NN and Hurn) and we should be the first club ever to go deep in the mid season draft.

Williams got spanked by pittonet… much harder to play a grown man than a 3 game kid like last week

Marshall destroyed teakle this week aswell and port have won both games . Shows that rucks really aren't that important when you have good midfielders

Not much to like. They all looked tired and over it.

-Thought Witho was actually ok. Goes pretty hard.
  • Clark and Foley are easy delistings. WAFL players
  • West and SPS show good effort but are low production nothing players.
  • Does anyone know why they pulled XON from the middle in the second half? Thought he may finally be putting a good game together but then got put in the forward line.
  • Culley very quiet.
  • Darling is clearly injured. He was in pain in the final quarter.
  • Duggnuts kicks are a chook raffle. A simple kick from defence can end up 5 rows back.
Xon got some busted ribs in the 2nd quarter and battled on . Recon he would have been subbed if SPS didn't get injured

Exactly so we get to watch Rotham again next week. FFS indeed.
