I made this image before Darcy was ruled out, so... s**t.

BRISBANE LIONS

* Carlton.
Josh Dunkley showed once and for all why we tried so hard to get him across to our club a couple of years back, with a dominant performance that included 33 touches, 13 tackles, 6 clearances, and 555m gained. It was great to watch until you remembered he'd probably bring the same performance with him against us this week.
A third-quarter domination was enough to see the Blues fans bail out of Marvel Stadium at the final change, with a 5 goal to zip term all but consigning the victory to the visitors.
Charlie Cameron continued to stamp himself as the best small forward in the league, whilst Harris Andrews and Jack Payne absolutely toweled up Coleman Medalists Harry McKay and Charlie Curnow. It was great to watch.
I enjoyed seeing Carlton get smacked around, but then the daunting realization was that we were headed for a similar fate after them hit me.
Sigh.

ESSENDON BOMBERS

Rioli is a rat, pass it on.
Another brave loss, this time away in Adelaide to a Port side who were unlucky to have not won by more. Bad kicking is bad footy, and their kicking for goal was shocking.
With that scumbag Rioli taking out one of our best defenders, we found ourselves undermanned and overwhelmed when the heat came in the third and fourth quarters. Whilst we pushed hard and damn near got over the line towards the end, but it proved to be a bridge too far.
Zerk is proving to be a real star defender at this point, and he most definitely had the better of Charlie Dixon.
Draper gave silver service to our mids early in the game, but as time went on, the Power started to read the taps better and get some clearances of their own.
Langford is such a good forward. It's a damn shame we keep having to throw him back in defence.

Selection Table.jpg

If the prospect of facing Brisbane at the Gabba wasn't daunting enough, let's just have two key pillars of our already decimated defense get ruled out with concussion and see where that leaves us. Jordan Ridley will miss through a dog shot by that feral dimwit rat Junior Rioli, whilst Jake Kelly has been forced to sit out with delayed concussion symptoms. Adding to that, arguably our best player in Darcy Parish has suffered a calf injury at training during the week and will most likely miss a matter of weeks. Just when we're about to finally get into a decent run of winnable games. Sigh.

Thought things couldn't get any worse? Brisbane has brought back Dayne Zorko, who has torched us on numerous occasions. Good.

At least this is a good chance for Kaine Baldwin to live up to his jumper number and show us what he can do in defense. Let's hope it's something Jesus-like, as we're gonna need a miracle.

The Tip.jpg

We've been competitive in this past month with every single team, even though we haven't come away with the chocolates. This is a brutal run of fixtures that finally eases up a bit after this test. We managed to get the win last time, and there's no reason to think we can't pull off the upset this time around too.

That said, I think we're a little too undermanned down back thanks to that rat s**t Rioli, and the loss of Parish is too huge to cover without losing out elsewhere. We've been gallant over the past month of horrible fixturing, but the injuries and back-to-back interstate trips will ultimately prove too much. All we can do is hope for no more of our players to get hurt.

Brisbane by 41.

Was wondering if it might be better to watch a replay of our 2019 match against the western bulldogs during the same time slot instead - same result scoreboard-wise but with the advantage that the footage can be paused and fast-forwarded at leisure and also avoid the ads, plus no need to look at smirks and jumper tugging by Joe and Connor 🤔
