IN : S Hill

OUT : H Crozier

If you watch the behind the goals vision in the AFL Wrap with Lloyd et al, Crozier was a f**king idiot.
We had the f**king ball FFS.
I'm a fan, but he needs to go back to Peel.
Crozier played dumb footy most of the game. Could've had a few more goals but coughed the ball up at crucial moments.

So what Richmond player niggled him, of course they would- looking for a retaliation free and get another I50. Really immature from Hayden to do that. Had no momentum, so was key to keeping the ball in our 50 to run down the clock. Gray was ready to kick it long into the 50 at that point

I agree with most of your thoughts. Actually it is also highlighting an imbalance in our list with all four of your "in the mix players" being +192cms.

Realistically, Collins is enough depth and seems to be a genuine best 22 contender, and the three others need to find alternative ways to push their cases, perhaps the most realistic opportunity centring on Mundy's stage of career; Logue and Duman more likely at this early stage.
Yeah Duman's 191cm as well. He's being played on the wing for Peel most of the time I think. He's probably got the tools to become a balanced mid that can alos play half back - speed, good height, good disposal, agile, can tackle and reasonable hands but will need to build his body/strength and get better at winning the ball. Definitely see him as a possible Mundy type given the size and disposal but that's a very high bar, especially today :)

I hope we continue developing Cox as a KPD, he looks so much more comfortable down back and I thought his disposal was pretty solid despite it looking awkward at times. Logue needs to have the pressure to make the Freo B22 taken off and just be given time to work on a few things at Peel imo. I have no problem carrying all three of Collins, Cox and Logue as KPD prospects/depth. With Dawson in his final year, MJ possibly also and APearce continually injured it makes sense to have plenty in the mix.

Kind of agree but my buddy still the best purely on his hangers with peel last week :)

I have Nyhuis in my team above. What more do you want? :D Really hope he gets to debut this season even if just to see if he has what it takes.

Need to push on with the rebuild and getting games into young players. If there's a 50/50 call like D.Pearce or Balic, go with youth. D.Pearce had a pretty good game but he's yesterdays news and a depth player who can come in and cover for injuries, suspensions etc.

Can't revert back to the old brigade now in hope of snatching wins and scraping into the finals. Let the kids build.

I won't be surprised if there isn't any changes but I'd love to see Ryan for Ibbo and Balic for someone but realistically can't see who he'd replace just yet.

Ibbo actually didn't do that badly but I think he just needs a week or 2 in the WAFL to dominate and remember how good he can actually be. D.Pearce was good yesterday, can't see him coming out. All the people calling for Croz need to relax, Croz should be in the younger, more fluent team because he can seriously become something. Even when Stringer for the dogs struggles, they don't drop him because of what he can do. Croz is the same. I've still yet to see any reason or footage of why the free kick was given. Especially considering Kersten and Tabs both got dragged down behind the play in our f50 on more then one occasion.

I've come to accept that Crozier is never going to average more than 12-15 disposals a game - and I'm cool with that.

If those 12 disposals involve a couple of awesome aerial grabs, a difficult goal from a 60 degree angle, a few tough tackles and some pinpoint kicks from half back that create an open run of play then in my opinion he's doing his job.

Atm only 3-4 of his disposals are decent, and they're still better than what most other players could produce with 20 chances; but it's just not enough.

He's a momentum player that when everything's added together can actually be the difference between winning and losing, so hopefully his impact with his 12 disposals will materialise sooner rather than later.

Its a Claytons youth policy. There were no first year players in the side and all the younger players excluding Tucker who played some of last season have been in and out of the side for the last 3 to 5 years. Not being rushed in as new toys early in their development and learning the game at Peel with a few senior games at Freo seems to have worked. ;)

Some things to remember when considering outs:

D.Pearce getting his kick smothered on the forward 50 late in the game.
Crozier with his rubbish kick inside 50 straight to a Richmond bloke.

Still want ibbo out. The two mention already spend time playing wafl this season.

Weller standing next to Ellis as he snapped the goal that almost cost us the game and not desperately going for a spoil has to be up there also...

That is a bit hash if sutty do not give the ball away , Weller might not be in this situation at all.

True. Still nearly lost the plot at that effort from Weller though. There was another instance on the goal line that looked pretty bad from Weller also. Think the goal was disallowed in the end so didn't cost us.

I'm sure he'll be a good player and is doing a serviceable job but he lacks the desperation for the ball that he used to have IMO. Not sure why.

Balic in for Crozier - if Balic gets well.

Ryan in for Ibbotson - Ibbotson wasn't horrible, just that Ryan looks like he could be better and needs to be given the chance.

S.Hill in for D.Pearce - if S.Hill passes fitness test.

Collins in for Johnson - Simply resting Johnson (probably better to do this next week when we're traveling though).

Ballas is also a chance but I don't think he'll be in as, despite him being listed as 1-3 weeks, I would prefer we just rest him for one more week as a precaution.

Weller will be fine, he's got a licence to attack, and as such there will be disappointments!

I think Weller has turned into Sheridan down back; it's just not his natural position.

He led our disposals against Melbourne and 3rd highest against Norf. Does anyone remember if he was at half back then? Swore I saw him mainly on the wing eating eating up space and setting up forward plays.

If true then our half-back woes don't look like abating anytime soon.

Looks like it may be wet, do we go smaller?

Is it just me or does that give anyone else visions of Ballas slipping a lot at crucial times.

Apparently Crozier leading the club for tackles inside F50 according to the commentators (Grey cannot be far behind). I am a fan of Crozier because he has class most of the time and has the ability to turn a half chance into something. In his role he will never get a heap of the ball but if he just picks up a few tricks with experience in the firsts he will be value.

Mundy not mentioned by the MRP. Cotchin gets a $1000 fine for his 'careless' jumper punch on Lachie Neale.

Though Ross mention in his presser everybody play well in the first three quarter , so if freo really looking to improve should look at players just performing the worst in the last quarter .

Thought Croziers tackling and pressure in the first quarter were excellent personally. Didn't think he was too bad overall.
That's the problem with him. We've seen some flashes of brilliance but nothing consistent and goes missing and makes some epic mistakes.

So pretty much like most of the other guys tried in that role - namely Ballantyne but also Suban and Pearce. Sometimes the mistakes are because he does actually try the aggressive option with a kick versus the conservative bomb it long.

The player that impressed me most was actually Hughes - he is really coming along and starting to play like he was in the WAFL - cool under pressure in the backline.

This. So much this.

Didn't see it with him at all early on. Building fantastically.

I hope we leave Ballas at peel for a few weeks before they look at picking him. The chemistry up forward is pretty good, and Ballas needs to be desperate to be any good.

I'm not sure who to drop, but I do know the problem in the last quarter was the midfield, not the defence or the forward line. As soon as shill is available he should come back for long bomb Pearce.

Anyone who plays in the forward line goes missing occasionally. Thats the nature of playing in the forward line.
