I'm suprised how unanimous we were about the best five players.

Seems like we're not getting as many votes as we might've done in past seasons, or am I imagining things?

What is evident when counting the votes cast, is the noticeable discrepancy between the amount of votes cast when we win compared to those cast when we lose; but you are right, there were significantly less votes this week.

Hanley the fans’ best

Pearce Hanley is the runaway mid-season leader in the race towards the Brisbane Lions’ online Player of the Year.

Despite missing Round 5 through suspension, Hanley leads the way with a total of 1,142 votes – more than 400 votes clear of second placed Brent Moloney (725).

Dayne Zorko, meanwhile, has made up some significant ground in recent weeks – particularly following big performances against Essendon and Collingwood.

Zorko currently sits third in the Player of the Year with 520 votes, and is making up quick ground on the top two who were both uncharacteristically quiet against the Magpies last Friday night.

Jack Redden’s (479 votes) effort against Collingwood has also seen him leapfrog injured ruckman Matthew Leuenberger (478 votes) into outright fourth.

Voting on the Lions website is not too dissimilar to our very own BF Player of the Year Leader board, although I'm surprised at Zorko's third place positioning considering our voting allows for an two extra players to be selected each week, yet he has only received 6 votes from 3 games (not including Collingwood).
