Recommitted Rowan Marshall [OOC 2027] - Requested Trade to Geelong, didn't get done

We've asked for future pick/s to be involved
Geelong's best offer has been its 1st pick for this year.
Why is that odd? ffs

Because Geelong have a history of holding firm on trading the future 1sts unless they get something significant back the other way. See Collingwood and 2022 trade period and the same last year. It wouldn't be that hard for St kilda to read the room-so it comes back to my question-if you know you will only deal for that and you know Geelong wont offer it why waste anyone's time with the pretence of a negotiation that isnt going to go anywhere?

How? He missed out of Curnow and Marshall. That ship has sailed.

He hasn't missed marshall and im not sure missing out on curnow is the bad thing you think it is.

I still don’t see the Saints making the 8 this year. Which team do they squeeze out? Dogs will improve more than Saints. Saints are better off taking at least one first rounder into the draft. At the moment their draft hand is horrible.

If King can play 20+ games we’re a huge chance. Pou fully fit and then add the new recruits Flanders, TDK, JSOS and Ryan.

GWS - Jones and J.Kelly out for the season
Coll - Mihocek gone + older guys another year older
Freo/GC - Tougher draws so you never know
Adel - Could fall in a heap with a tougher draw and their Midifeld is average

Agree on most of those being a risk of falling out though I back Freo and GCS to stay in it.

I would put forward though Swans, Dogs, and Port as high chances of getting back in

And the caveat to that is as saints supporter pointed out earlier.

If Mackie wants to chases other teams contracted players but refuses to pay overs which is often the case when trying to poach said players then maybe he shouldn’t be whining and dining them .

if your hero list manager walks a way from this trade after promising Marshall a new home then it’s no different to what the saints have done with aleer.

But alas coz of it involving “leagues best practice “ Geelong I doubt the AFL media will be as outraged on Scott, Mackie and the cats as they have been on the saints

I keep seeing and hearing this and its absolutely baffling to me.

They’ve done absolutely NOTHING so far to address the most glaring of issues in their back half .
How much more can they get out of their mids and fwds in terms of impact as this year in which they STILL couldn’t even make the 8

Haven't the Saints shut-down trading Marshall?
Ummm ….As he’s contracted they have every right to - and they’ve shut it down because apparently Geelong really want marshall but only at the price Mackie wants to pay :$

Geelong have come after another clubs contracted player .It’s ON THEM to get the deal down.

Saints weren’t the one offering him up

Yeah, i realise he is still contracted & that the Saints shut it down a few days ago, which is why i was wondering why it was still being discussed like it's happening...

Haven't the Saints shut-down trading Marshall?

No.

Sam Edmund said yesterday morning that they wouldn’t trade him. He almost immediately backtracked and said ‘as it stands’ and that ‘things could change.’

Yesterday afternoon Mackie confirmed the clubs are still discussing a trade and we still plan to bring Marshall in.

Damian Barrett said he expects the deal to happen, and Tom Morris reported St K has already sounded out Ivan Soldo as a mature age back up ruck in the event they trade Marshall.

You're heavily invested in this considering it has nothing to do with your club, but rather than making up fictional stories you could try sticking to the fact of the matter, Rowan Marshall requested a trade to Geelong. Mackie did no chasing

Thinking there's a way we can get that 2nd rounder to Saints who can then pick up that poor Leek fellow.
2 years spent on a player and won't even give up a pick in the 40s for him

It’ll be SDK for Marshall. Done on the last day after close of trades, but lodged beforehand so it’s in queue to be processed. AFL would want a trade announcement like that.

Mackie said no one has approached him from Saints/Blues about getting any Cats players through trade and he isn’t trading anyone who hasn’t asked so no idea why Saints fans keep bringing him up?
Is it just some fan fantasy?

He hasn’t said he wants to go. Saints haven’t asked for him.

Lol at the Saints fans pretending the Marshall situation is anything like the Leek Aleer one.

Nobody promised Marshall anything. We all know it depends on whether a deal could be done. We've made a good faith offer and hopefully for his sake a deal gets done but there were never any guarantees.

Stkilda promised Leek Aleer the world, left him in the shit and then lied about it being cause a trade couldn't be done. Absolute dog shit behaviour of the highest order.

Is he refusing to pay overs though?
