and a 50/50 is "The Duck" - could be an arrogant swine but was always nice to the little kids who swarmed around him at the club, even in off season saw him once at a pub near where i used to live, made time to chat with and sign autographs to the kids who were eating there with their family. Made those kids night.

I accosted Dermott Brereton last year at Adelaide airport for a photo.
Actually, I asked very nicely.
Dermie is a deadset legend.

He didn't mind me wearing a Lions rugby top either, but made a joke about it.

I was working up the coast one year, Dermie came in was having a laugh and a beer when one of the bussies told me there was a little bit of a scuffle, i walked over, talking to one of the guys involved, he was pretty pissed and just wanted to blue, told him he had to leave, he was firing up gave me a shove, when out of nowhere Dermie comes flying over the top and shoves the guy (and moves him), guy looks up, recognizes Dermie, tries to talk to him, Dermie tells him to **** off, and escorts/pushes him out of the club.
Remember seeing Rioli at the Grand a number of years ago, absolutlely maggoted. All he kept doing was hugging me and my mate and yelling "Yer da man, and yer da man!" Piss funny...

Leaving the AFL players that I've known quite well out of it, becuase they were all nice blokes.
Nicest was Andrew Embley - I was flying back to Perth on the same plane as West Coast and he went out of his way to chat to me. I see Peter Bell around my office building from time to time and he is always friendly to hangers on that walk up for a chat.
Iterestingly, I was getting on a flight to Melbourne a couple of weeks ago when Geelong arrived in Perth to play Freo. All the Geelong players (that I saw) signed autographs except Mooney who brushed them off and told them get out of his face. Fits his on field persona to a tee I would have though.

Gotta admit, as crazy as Wazza is, he really is a great bloke, I remember one time 'crossing swords' with him in the toilets at the 'footy show final' at the tennis centre, he is bloody funny, he then walked passed where I was seated and shook hands with everyone of my friends, then told them how small my 'sword' was compared to his! (bullshit of course)

It was at a junior coaching clinic. Most of the players were full of encouragement and focussing on the kids. Braun spent most of the time disinterested and was constantly swearing. I thought it was very poor form, though this is going back quite a few years.
Perhaps working with (and pigging out on Gabba fast food before each Lions match) the Great bloodnut Leppa (great bloke!) has mellowed Rehn.. he's come across as a nice bloke when I've seen him/spoken to him around the Gabba this year.
I know this isn't the cricket thread, but can anyone report on Warney? My brother told me he was a complete tool (which I don't find hard to believe) but there must be a few Warney meet and greet stories out there.
