Walker you beauty! :D If I wasn't already on the bandwagon, I'm now the driver. Couldn't be happier with that selection. As for Kite, I haven't had too many positive words to say about him but he's paper thin and will play a lot of football, initially at reserves level, with Norwood. Will be great to see there developments and I'll be sure to give many updates as well as pics of the lads in action.

Kite for rising star Drummo?

as a former West Adelaide junior, i might have to come out of the closet and say that westies have done well in the mini draft. Moran and Dangerfield will be guns.

Although im not too sure how much SANFL they will play? it could be more AFL than SANFL.

Also, I dont think this draft covers Central's losses in Obst, Grima and....the other one slips me, that will hurt them this season, lucky for them callinan didnt go and the gowans stayed for one more otherwise it wouldve got very interesting.

Aufderheide will slot into the back six to cover the loss of Grima very nicely, and Cowan (knee op) will be back to cover the loss of Obst up forward. Thanks very much for your concern.

grasping, straws, at...

hehehehe:p

Poor Daniel Boyle will no doubt be spewing. He will have to work his arse off to get a gig in the ones, and play ini a premiership. hehehehe

Hello!!!! Massie, Thomas, Lower, Campbell. Massie has been a pretty consitent player at the top level and the latter 3 will all play for their AFL club next season.

I guess they cant wreck every decent footballer who's unlucky enough to end up there.:D

Just kidding RedLeg'ns.:o

Bit worried about having Taylor and Jericho in the same forward line, can picture them fighting for the same spot with Jericho winning out due to strength/experience. Seems like the Ranger and Kite might be playing a fair bit of Reserves next year.

I like the idea of Otten at South. Van Berlo did well there and Mackay was looking good for both his games. I like how South give these kind of blokes an opportunity from game one:thumbsu:

Moran at Wests is a double edged sword. If he plays well he'll be in the AFL, if he doesn't, Westies are stuck with a bloke playing crap. Will be nice to have the twin towers of TIppet and Moran together though. Ditto with Dangerfield as there's a very real possibility the lad may only play 2 or 3 SANFL games as he may be AFL ready come 2009 ...

I like Curnow at Glenelg. As they've shown with Dougy the Bays are willing to give new Victorian blokes a go and if everything I've read about Curnow is true he'll find himself playing alot of League footy next year given every chance to impress.

Jacky at Woodville I'm not so sure about. Would have loved to see him at North and Armstrong at Woodville personally as I'm sure Jars would have loved Jacky to replace Matty Campbell from a few years back. Having said that, WWT have a decent record at getting AFL players up to scratch. And on the strength of the Roosters Defence you get the feeling Armstrong may spend the year in the two's.

Once again, Luke hardly played up forward when he transferred to Norwood last year. Played a roaming role in the forward line when rested off the ball or wing and won't be a permanent fixture in Norwood's forward line in 2008 either.

If you're going to comment, know what you're talking about.

Apart from the fact Jericho has been playing on the wing for Norwood but lets not let facts get in the way here.

My my, aren't we all holier than thou? It wasn't exactly an offensive comment so why such a reaction?

Jericho has loyal fans who crush anyone, who smite his name.

Maybe I am in a bad mood today but there is more than one crack at my club in this thread and I am a bit tired and bored of it all really.

Oh come on. Massie had already played in an AFL grand final by the time we traded for him. Norwood had jackshit to do with him.

Thomas, Lower and Campbell hardly disprove the theory either. Three players yet to make any real mark. Im not saying they wont, but its hardly a case closed by throwing those names at him.

12, 4 and 1 afl games respectfully between them I believe. Most of the comments aimed norwood's way are a 'running joke' on this board at the moment and are more in line with people trying to be funny.

But there is a little bit of truth to the fact that some of our 'supposed' best young talent that have gone there has struggled.

Good stuff for all clubs I think

Will be interesting to read and watch the reports ...I can see Drummond naming his The pr0n Report, what with all the excitement. :D

How will Vlatko and Walker go in the same area? I think Norwood will do Walker the world of good, what having to learn how a struggling ( oh only joking guys) ..nah should do well at the Parade

Mitchell Farmer, hmm off to do some reading

I think you'll find with Norwood's financial situation improving so will they. Can hardly be blamed for the fact that Meesen is both no good and doesnt have any intensity and on the whole Pfeffier played well at Norwood, troubles more with the Crows. I'll accept cracks from Centrals fans, but the rest of the comp haven't exactly been flying you know. Eagles have wasted opportunities, Bays/West/South ordinary for most of the last 15 years, Port struggling, Sturt pretty mediocre, North pretty good lately but no flag to crow about

Norwood are a proud club with a good supporter base, they'll be back. Some clubs were never there

So Massie is your one example to contradict me?

I was only having a bit of a joke, but you have to admit that Norwood seem to struggle to develop AFL quality footballers.

Rubbish

Harley (premiership captain)
Crouch
Bassett
Fosdike
Scott Burns
Patfull

all going well

another 6-7 have played a bit

Roger James/Robran/Primus/Brett James just 4 who spring to mind from recently retired group

Now that’s just rubbish.

Take a look at the list jarmanagic provided, and then tell me we’re no good at developing AFL quality footballers.

At the end of 2008 Lower, Thomas and Campbell will all prove themselves to be quality players at the top level. Gavin Hughes from the Dogs is also a fair chance to make a career.

Are we talking about players who continued their development with Norwood once they were drafted or those that were drafted and left Norwood to develop interstate i.e pretty much everyone on the list you listed as all going well pretty much continued their development elsewhere. Only the james brothers and Robran can be considered in continuing their development at Norwood. Possibly Bassett but he did spend 2 years away from Norwood initially.

I think most people's problem with Norwood development that is being alluded to in this thread is in relation to those players that are at Norwood for the first couple of years into their AFL career and they don't seem to develop onwards from there.

Of the most recent of those, Meesen, is more about his own issues and wanting things given to him instead of having to work for them to my mind. That is no fault of Norwood imo.

who are they though Nikki?(Meesen/Pfeffier already mentioned)

Dont forget most drafted players have minimal impact at their SANFL clubs these days unless they are drafted to a SA club

I think in the last 10 years both James boys, Primus, Nathan Bassett and Patfull all developed nicely at Norwood then AFL, andwhilst Massie came to Norwood/Crows via senior AFL football he has also develped at the club

As a matter of fact Massie is much loved by Norwood fans because he has a 100% crack every time he comes back to a club he didnt really have an affilation with

The Eagles and Sturt have both won flags in this millenium and the Eagles have played in other GFs in past years whereas Norwood have done a combined total of SFA in recent times. Glenelg, Port and South have been ordinary and hell even Westies have played in a GF, albeit theyre struggling now so I think its more than fair other supporters can have a crack at Norwood, or are they too precious ??

Ill admit im not a Redlegs fan and it sucks that we're in their country zone and I had to wear the guernsey, but I do not share the distain others do, Ive got many mates who play down there and I think the future is a lot brighter than some think, especially with young Tex spending some time there, but they are hardly the proud club they used to be. Too much b!tching and in fighting plus a coach who has no idea, the financial problems arent all.

As for our result in the Mini-Draft, dont know a huge amount about Mitch Farmer apart from the TAC Cup GF in which he was a star so hopefully he gets settled in well and plays some good footy, whether he starts in the Seniors or the 2's
