SBS vs FoxSports

Murray/Dempsey vs Hill - has to be Hill
Kalac vs Bosnich - no contest, for a psycho Bosnich knows his stuff
Fozzy vs Slater - Slater, funny and doesn't come across as a tool 90% of the time
Zelic vs Trimboli - finally a win for SBS, even if he talks with his hands a bit much
Zdrilic vs Ang P. - probably Ang just because Zdrilic offers absolutely nothing and is very bland
Basheer vs Harper - battle of the craniums has to go to Harper. Basheer sounds like he has a cold and just doesn't excite like a commentator should

Could be worse though people, channel 7 could have it and we'd be forced to listen to Paul Wade!!!!!
 
How about Foster sinking the boots into the Slovaks?

Sure, they were boring as batshit - but they're a small country at their first WC, and as usual, Foster was expecting them to knock it around like Barcelona.

Don't mind Zelic and Awaratifi but the rest are tools especially Foster.

Agree the coverage on whole has been a bit bland.

Haven't minded Kalac's bluntness, thought his honesty re: Australia v Germany was refreshing.

Feel like going to sleep when Basheer and Muskie are commentating.

Who would you have in their sted Bourkie? Should send in an audition tape :D
 
They just played Italy vs NZ at 2.00pm-4.00pm. Now they're playing the same game as 'match of the day' between 4.00pm-6.00pm. Dont see the point in that really.
 
I swear Craig Foster is a madman he must think about football (if you called it soccer to his face he would probably kill you) every single second of his life.

I don't mind Les Murray.

Though I do enjoy watching Bosnich and Slater go back and forth because they are funny and you can tell they are good mates.

A little bit of Mel McLaughlin wouldn't go astray either.
 
Don't like Craig Johnston on the world cup show, I think Foster wish he could shut up for a while, they don't work well together.

John Helm is the worst commentator ive heard of any sport in the history of my life. Sounds like an old grand dad that hasn't a ****ing clue about the sport or players when he commentates. Listening to him for a decade has questioned my sanity on all too many an occasion. **** me. Also, even though I go for Italy, palumbo is a w***er.

In terms of analysts, I think Zdrilic and Awaratife are good, and I rate Zelic highly. I think what turns off people about Zelic is that he's pretty outright when it comes to his opinions and presents them as such, but I find that more often than not, he is absolutely spot on with what he says, and always has a foundation for his points. And it's not only his comments in hindsight, but his predictions before the game. I reckon he's a top analyst, can't argue that he knows his shit.

Stil, SBS so a good job in my opinion. If we want a good host, we should have Andrew Orsatti, but he's pissed off to ESPN for huge money which is fair enough. Another great analyst is Rale Rasic, but he's not there this time. World cup has to stay with SBS though. Anyone remember 2002 when 9 hosted part of it? **** me, they were atrocious, simply atrocious. Wasn't even up to amateur level.

Need more Martin Tyler though. Best caller I've ever heard.

edit: reading through the thread, and am glad people have picked up on how bad helm is. So glad I'm not alone on that one. Also forgot about Simon Hill. Good presenter, and australia's best caller.

Muscat - I think he just got the gig without much preparation time. Wanted a special comments man to back up Basheer calling. His blatant cheering for Australia isn't professional, but I can live with it.

My poo from 1998 would do a better job than him. He led the way in terms of poor quality when 9 had the rights in 2002.

Never heard Bosnich commentate but would be interested to hear him. Most talented keeper australia has ever produced and by a fair margin. Too bad he couldn't handle the coke and groupies.

Im not happy they talk about the game post game for 2 mins then go, but hey we are seen it live and free so I aint complaining. If only the Afl could do the same atleast some of the time (not 2 Fridays out of 22 weeks)

Bosnich is fantastic on Fox Sports. Especially during the EPL coverage. Dominates. :thumbsu:
 
There is very much a divide in the soccer community basically split down the SBS line.

It is no secret that Slater and Ang P don't rate Foster and the feeling is mutual. Check the below quote out, he rates himself. The Terry he is talking about is Terry Butcher

As for Terry and Rob, both have an understanding of the game limited to the British Isles, and as such, I fully understand their emotional reactions to my views which can be very confronting to people with a narrow football belief system.
Nothing personal, but Terry is precisely the type of old school English coach we need to avoid to progress, and as for Rob's insight into football, well, the less said the better.

lol true:D but at least he gives you something, the others you either feel dumber after listening to them (Okon, Basheer) or just cringe whenever they open their mouths (kalac, foster).
